Billy is running across the field after Rage and enjoying the feel of the soft grass under his feet, when there’s a sudden lurch, like the beginning of an earthquake or as if the whole world has shifted slightly, and he feels himself falling backwards. The ground he expects to come up and meet him isn’t there, and he keeps falling and falling, the world around him turning into a fast-moving blur of green trees and blue sky. There’s a sudden, strong smell of magic and he lands heavily, finding himself sitting outside in a patch of grass. He shakes his head and the magic smell dissipates somewhat, though it’s still there in the background, clinging to everything around him.
He stands up and sniffs the air. There are other scents, too, like grass and birds and a trace of human smell, so there must be people nearby, he thinks. He knows he’s travelled to another world, and he knows it’s not Valley, because this magic smells different to Valley’s. It is strange, because he doesn’t remember travelling through a world gate, and he can’t have dream-travelled, because Rage isn’t with him. Even if she were, he doesn’t understand why she would take him to such an unfamiliar place. He wonders if somebody who lives in this place used magic to call him here.
He sits back down on the lawn to wait for a while, in case Rage follows him through. He wouldn’t want her to be alone in a strange place like this. Time passes and there’s no sign of her, so he sighs, gets back up, and starts heading towards the big house. He should be able to find someone there who can tell him about what this place is and how he can get back home.
Anyone out on the lawn or the front porch might notice him walking towards the Mansion. He might not seem like a new arrival, at first. He’s perfectly calm, despite having been sucked into a strange new magical world. He seems more curious about his surroundings than anything else.

momentsplinterOther relevant info: Taken from the end of the second book, though I doubt anyone knows his canon /forever a scone. Billy has an incredibly good sense of smell, so he’ll probably be able to smell if somebody has magical abilities or isn’t human. But if you’d prefer he didn’t pick up on something like that just tell me and he can, er, not notice? Also, he’s definitely not going to read as fully human to any psychic-y types.
