Morgana-Morgoth skepticalmagic May 25 2011, 01:35:39 UTC
Morgana is used to having terrible dreams, but her time at the mansion has been almost devoid of anything even slightly disruptive of her sleep.

Being that she's finally had a stretch of good sleep for the first time she can remember, Morgana would not react well to anything disrupting that.

Perhaps her dream, whatever it is, will begin to get....

warm.

As if fire were burning under her bed.

Which, of course, it isn't.

Her dream is one of the many executions she's witnessed; this one an execution. It's odd, as her dreams are usually premonitions, not memories.

She was always far enough away that the heat from the fire barely touched her, so the heat has her turning over in bed.

Unfortunately, Morgana's always had difficulties awakening from dreams.

There is a roar, slowly rising, indistinct, at first - those are calls, or maybe not - as the volume gets amplified, the sound of an angry mob rises, rises.

Burn the witch! Burn her to ashes.

They are cries she's heard before, but there's a difference this time. It does not sound like they are shouting it at the pyre but instead up to the window where she watches.

That is not possible, but she shuts the window, refusing to watch it further, and not understanding she is in the middle of a nightmare.

From behind her, a voice will sound, with that distinct, cold ring so very Uther.

"It is time, witch."

Turning around, she goes to defend herself -- not with violence -- but a mocking dismissal of such an idea, a tone that often works on Uther, though less so of late.

She finds she can't say anything. Thus, it is rare in her life that Morgana runs from anything but this is something completely different. Though it appears counter intuitive, she moves backwards, towards the window, to force Uther to come farther in, hopefully then providing the necessary space to move around him.

She can still feel the flames of the pyre.

The Uther figure does not move, nor does it speak. Its eyes are hollow, empty, full of unfeeling purpose.

Slowly, at the pace of Morgana's heartbeats, the figure raises an arm with an extended finger. It points to the window in an uncompromising order.

Should Morgana turn around, she'll find the window to have vanished and the pyre to be suddenly much too close for comfort.

Morgana knows she shouldn't look, but like Lot's wife, she can't control herself. The last time she was this frightened by a dream, she set her chambers ablaze, and that continues here, with the fire getting hotter, as if meant to engulf.

She looks for a way to escape, any small opportunity and she would take it.

"Why are you doing this?" She's not really asking, as she feels she may need to beg for her life.

Witch. You are the filthiest thing, the most disgusting betrayer there ever was. You do not belong.

The figure takes a step towards Morgana, as if ready and willing to simply push her into the fire - the ground behind her is crumbling, revealing burning crimson pits and flames eager to lick at her skirts.

There is a large part of Morgana that is terrified. There is another part of her that's been expecting this all along. After meeting Morgause, there's been a belief that either she is the death of Uther or he'll be the death of her.

"Justify yourself!" She demands. "A trial, something." She wants the time, unaware this is a dream. She wants the time to plan an escape.

But the ground crumbling behind her gets too close and she loses her balance, falling backward.

Only to wake up with a cry, her skin damp and breath ragged.

When she wakes, there will be a face, looking down on her from the ceiling. It's beautifully malignant, like a fallen angel.

Melkor - that is how he thinks of himself, always, and more so when he wears the face of the Vala he used to be - looks both terrifyingly beautiful and malignantly cunning.

He just smiles a little.

And I'm thinking we're good to FTB after yours, or do you want them to have a conversation?

Morgana scrambles out of bed, but there isn't an available weapon.

"What is this?" She demands.

Though whether or not she'll get an answer, isn't a guarantee.

It will freak her our far more to not have said conversation. Your choice :)

You had a dream, a voice says in her head, almost gentle, weirdly soothing, though it is extremely uncanny. It's over now.

He's going to try to seduce her into the dark side. >.> Does that work for you? If not, I'll re-do the tag.

"This is sorcery, magic," she accuses aloud, but the voice in her head reminds her of Mordred. There's a momentary ache as she has no idea what happened to the boy.

"Why did that happen?" The face may be beautiful, but Morgana's also a great beauty, but not one with her actions of late, to be trusted -- not that she would ever admit so.

Because it could, Melkor's almost singing voice replies. Why else would it?
