And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us... Sorry God, but does it involve
having your arm mangled by a crazy bitch and being humiliated? Cause that's pretty hard to forgive.
Eda takes a deep breath and opens her eyes, she now knows another reason why she is an atheist. She believes in revenge, whole heartedly.

He probably should be noticing her, but that's the Doctor for you.

"You jammed my gun, didn't you?"

And then he notices the bandage on her arm, and his frown deepens. "You know," he adds, a bit carefully, "That...does not say much about your claim not to be an idiot. Now without a gun. --are you all right?"

She sighs and calms down. "If I wasn't so sure that you weren't human, I'd snap your fucking neck right now. But I'm not."

At her second comment, his mouth goes a little flat and his eyebrows draw down. "You're not? Well, that's convenient. Did someone look at that?" With a nod at her arm.
He's feeling a bit guilty, or was, but her shouting kind of negated that. For the moment.

"By all fucking means, I should... No."

Of course he's right. He often is. That's what makes his attitude somewhat infuriating, a lot of the time.

As the Typist said once before, Eda is a difficult bitch.

He doesn't correct her about where the fault lies again. After all, perhaps he should have at least told her that he jammed her gun. But that would have taken all the fun out of the surprise. But he wasn't expecting her to actually go shooting at someone!
Idiots.

"Tell me, Doctor. Why do you hate guns?"

He gives her a cool once over. "That's why."

"But you're hard-headed. Like me. So I'll just tell you this... I may be an idiot, but I'm a hired idiot. It's only a job. My job requires me to shoot things, it's not easy, or lovely. It's just what I do. I don't take pleasure in it." (That last sentence was a lie, but he doesn't have know that.)
"I'd love to believe in your ideas, Doctor. But the world I left doesn't work that way..."

"There is no world that is all sunshine and flowers," he says, finally, and he is serious about this. "None that I have ever found that does not have conflict. Very few that do not have some form of violence. But there are perhaps four other planets with species that are happy to kill their own kind with such impunity as humans do."
"So don't tell me that there is no other option. There are plenty of other options. You say that, you're giving up any chance you ever have to fix things. You'll go on shooting people and they'll go on shooting back, and that's it, everyone kills each other."
"I know people," he says, "I know humans. And I know that they can be better than that. So I expect them to be."
Reply
"Tell me, what makes us humans worth your time, then? Even without guns, we still find reasons to kill each other. So what exactly is your point? Are you better than us? Do you feel sorry for us?"

Reply
"Wow, for a alien, you are optimistic about us."
