[Crack Plot] "I Rejoiced When I Heard Them Say, 'Let Us Go to the House of the Lord"
It took time to put the finishing touches on the chapel. A rainstorm that lasted for two days forced the work to halt, but it also gave Parsifal and his assistants a chance to find places in the roof where the roof had begun to leak, and thus they could mend them before they started to furnish the inside. Plastering the walls took some time, but they now stood smooth and white between the posts and beams that supported the roof. Medium-backed benches were made from smooth-planed boards and ranged in the nave. A dais of one step was constructed at the western end of the chapel to mark off the sanctuary. An ornately carved table was found in the attic and brought down to be set in the sanctuary. A cabinet painted with gold radiator paint set on top of a bookcase turned backwards and draped in a lace curtain served as a tabernacle. And for the Holy Spear itself, Tsuzuki constructed a framework of bamboo which kept it angled over a brass basin, in the event that the Spear should manifest the Precious Blood. The Plothole has graciously provided some simple white wafers to use as Communion hosts. Parsifal had ventured into the wine cellar to look for a wine to use; while he was down there, he met a mysterious man with the face of an angel, who helped him to find a simple Bourdeaux to use.
Parsifal keeps his sermon brief: he does not want this first Mass to be so long that it tires and bores those who have gathered for it. But he speaks of this chapel as it is: a place of peace and of refuge in life's trials, as well as a place to celebrate life's joys, a place where man might commune with God or at the very least have a quiet place for thought and meditation.
Just after Communion, as Parsifal is ritually cleaning the chalice and the paten, he senses something shift and hears the spatter of something flowing. He looks up from the altar to see the head of the Spear coated in red, the Precious Blood that flows from it at times, now trickling into the basin beneath it.
"My brothers and sisters, do not be afraid. It would seem that God has sent us a sign of His pleasure and blessing, and has bidden the relic that He has charged into my care, to show forth the wonder it conceals," he says. "This Blood is but another manifestation of the Precious Blood which was shed for our souls. How wondrous this place is!"
So! At long last the chapel is dedicated and is now open to any and all who seek a peaceful place to pray or think or even to converse in private. Folks can tag in by chatting together after Mass; His Guilelessness will be mingling with the congregation afterward.
