A tall, pale, blond man steps through the front door, and pauses. As he looks around his movements and gestures are stiff, his facial expressions limited. He turns to look out the door behind him, then takes another look around the room. This is certainly not where he was before, and when he attempts to wirelessly connect to Mr. Stark's ( Read more... )

There is a man in the common room who is reading and not quite paying attention to the newcomer - though there are new and odd noises, and that's -- very peculiar to him.

He might drop one of the books he's got on his lap, though, and sighs as he strains to pick it up. His stiff leg is getting in the way.

"Allow me," Jarvis says as he strides over and stoops to retrieve the book. He nearly adds 'sir' out of habit (who knew that computers had habits), but sir is Tony Stark, and this isn't him. He holds the book out to to the man, glad that he can be useful to someone anyway, even for a moment.

Ned accepts the book, then gauges the man offering it. "My thanks," he replies, and inclines his head. "That is very helpful of you, my good man."

He inclines his head - he would stand, but his leg is hurting, today.

"You're welcome," he says. "I'm glad I could help." He'd be more surprised if Ned did stand...but then, most of what he has direct experience of is Tony Stark's version of manners.

Ned smiles a little. "Pray, have a seat, then, good man. Are you new come?"

This Stark would be most appalled by Tony Stark, if he met him. And would decide that he's really a Martell, probably.

The way Ned speaks is very unusual to Jarvis, but still understandable. He nods as he moves to a chair. He's somewhat stiffer and more awkward that might be expected when he sits. "Thank you. Yes, I am."

Ned takes the stiff and awkward for a form of the respect commoners offer the highborn, and nods. "Be welcome, then. Have you all that you require?" He pauses, and inclines his head. "My apologies - I should introduce my self. Eddard Stark, of Winterfell."

"I do." He pauses. "My employer's name is Stark, as well. Tony Stark."

Ned blinks - but having already met another Stark to whom he's not related, he's not so confused as he might have been otherwise.

"I see," he replies thoughtfully. "Would he be a very tall and scarred fellow, per chance?"

"I would not say that he is particularly scarred, though he has a few. He is not particularly tall, either. He is the CEO of Stark Industries," he adds, because Mr. Stark is obviously a very famous man, back home anyway.

Blink blink. "I'm afraid I don't follow. What is a see'ee'o?" Though it does sound important - and it seems to vaguely make sense to Ned after all, this Stark was the Hand of the King and the Warden of the North, a prince himself.

The question is unexpected, but he's already learned that people can come from different worlds... "He runs the company. He also owns it and develops most of the products that Stark Industries manufactures."

Again, blink blink. "--- I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the term. 'Manufactures?'"

"Mass-produces," he clarifies, "in this case, primarily for the government."

Again, a blink. "--- what of, then?"

Being from a pre-industrial society, poor Ned is completeley confused.
