[Introduction] Through the Redhorn Gate

The mountain thrusts up before them like a knife: its peak is silver with ice and sunlight, but the lower slopes are the dull red of dried bloodstains. The path runs before them, narrow and twisting and treacherous, the climb up the steep mountainside sends the horses struggling and sliding toward the darkness beyond the cliff. Snow dusts the ground and soon stings her face like needles of ice as they work their way higher. The mounts struggle onward, through wild laughter on the air, and although her companions reassure her that this is but the eastwind across the ledges of the rock, it is not only the wind that has her on edge.

And then, after hours of struggle that gets the small party little further --- the rumble of stone and ice, cries of warning, and the wings of fear carry them into a wild dash onward across another rise and into a wide, shallow dell where dark shapes pour out of cracks and crevices in the rock, wild chants, stone beneath her as the horse rears and throws her, fair hair flying, but she seizes the confusion and rushes, runs, and --- escapes, through prying, scratching claws, running until her legs give in, and dizziness rises to suck her into the dark.

Waking, she finds it warmer. There is sunlight, and a short lawn tickles her face, but Celebrían does not quite dare to rise yet.

Name: Celebrían
Fandom: Tolkienverse
Media: Book (albeit the backstory)
Other relevant info: She just escaped from the Orc ambush on the way from Rivendell to Lórien that, in-canon, would have caused her to end up captured, tortured and eventually caused her to pass over the sea, so her cut is a bit earlier than her last mention in the book. Given the circumstances I suppose she would be scratched and bruised, even if she herself hasn't noticed that yet.
