In the life of a witch there is no afterword. She was dead, dead and g...wait.
Elphaba pants heavily. There's no stone beneath her feet, but wooden, shaky ledges and she can feel thick drops of water digging into her skin. One would think Dorothy's bucket emptied by now. But is she dead? It wouldn't surprise her if divinity chose to mock her afterlife by inventing thousands of Dorothies to throw water on her from the sky. Maybe there was indeed no soul inside her carcass of malice, so they had to bring her body instead, to pay the dues of her unforgiven crimes.
But Dorothy..the thought of her makes Elphaba shriek with pain on the inside too, but at least it clears her mind. She needs to think and put things into their rightful order. Dragging the broom with her, she crawls towards a chimney, where she can get a little respite from the wind and tightens the cloak around her. The rich night air is eerie and unfamiliar and she knows she is indeed gone from Oz, gone into the Wizard's world perhaps.
"Great", she muses, "probably people live on boats or flying houses around these parts".
