[introduction] It's still green up here

In the life of a witch there is no afterword. She was dead, dead and g...wait.

Elphaba pants heavily. There's no stone beneath her feet, but wooden, shaky ledges and she can feel thick drops of water digging into her skin. One would think Dorothy's bucket emptied by now. But is she dead? It wouldn't surprise her if divinity chose to mock her ( Read more... )

If at any time of her wanderings Elphaba happens to cast ger eyes downward, she'll perhaps notice a slender, pale, blonde and beautiful, albeit eerie lady, clad in mismatched skirt and blouse (still the clothes Iggy provided, yes), walking slowly by the line of the forest.

Isolde needs to gather her thoughts.

Elphaba squints her eyes, trying to make something out of the pale shadow she sees moving up and down. She cautiously takes one shoe off and throws it into the general direction of that...being?

Isolde's sometimes-occuring reflexes save her from a nasty encounter with the sudden ammunition. She turns her head, frightened by the sound, and the shoe misses her off by inches.

"What's the meaning of this?" she wonders out loud, as if hoping that something or someone in the shadows might answer.

"Uh, well; as a matter of fact it's quite simple. You stick your foot in it, tie the laces and you're good to go!"

Elphaba looks down over the eave.

"How does one get down from here? My broom seems to mind its own business tonight"

Not that they had that particular sort of shoe in Medieval Ireland, but so be it. "I-- didn't mean that. Did you throw at me, my lady? Why would you do such a thing?"

Elphaba snorts. I doesn't take much to make her loose her interest in people, but now, this one should make herself useful, despite the appearances:

"Pardon me, dear lady, I was trying to get someone attention and you happened to cross my shoe's path. If you also happen to have a ladder handy all would be peachy"

Isolde actually squints enough to notice the shoe where it lies abandoned, and would go there hesitantly and pick it up. "I---. I have your... shoe, was it?" A ladder. Now that's odd. She's sure she's seen one around when she arrived, but back then she was far from being well and sane. "I think I can look," she says doubtfully.

"No, no, don't have my shoe. Have me a ladder! Or..."

She pauses. She realizes now she might be looking scary and tries to soften her voice:

"Or you could be a dear and gather a pile of grass for me to jump on"

*cracks uppppp forever*

"Aye. Aye, that I could easily do." Her face brightens at the thought that she might prove herself useful after all. So she carefully puts down the shoe and starts pulling out grass till she builds a neat pile; she takes her time to fluff it a bit when it's done.

"I reckon it might be safe now, my lady!" she says with her face turned upward.

Elphaba moves around in circles on the roof, taking care not to spin too many times in the same direction. She's afraid she might die of hypothermia until this girl finishes gathering the pile. But she keeps herself from complaining, after all, she asked for a favour and she doesn't feel that she's being helped just as a next-good-deed.

"Now lets see..step away a bit, I'm not sure about my space orientation and I'd bet you have other plans for the morning than being a pie for breakfast"

Needless to say, helped by a cracking broom, Elphaba lands awkwardly, but alive next to the pile of grass.

Next to it??? *cracks up agaiiin*

Isolde follows the whole process with a worried look on her pale face. When Elphaba prepares to jump, she takes a few awkward steps back, gathering her skirt around her feet and curling her fingers around the fabric almost frantically.

The moment Elphaba lands, she'll rush by her side and hover about, her voice strained by concern. "My lady---. Are you quite alright? Should I call someone? Can you move?"

stop cracking, you're not made of wood >.>

"I think I could if you'd stop breathing my air" mutters Elphaba under her breath. She's annoyed by the situation, but she thinks she likes the girl. If she's so blank she could teach her a thing or two. There could also be redemption for her for the souls she let down.

But she doesn't want to think that far just yet.

"Thank you. You've been very kind. Who would you call?"

Laying like that on the ground she suddenly feels very sleepy and yawns. She didn't take the stay-awake potion tonight.

"Ah." A horrified gasp. "Of course." She dashes backward because she's still frightened for this new guest's well-being, and then, she figures out, she can't call anyone because there are no healers she knows-- besides herself.

"If you take my arm and allow me to see you in, my lady, I can take a look at you."

She used to be a kickass healer once, and now she's wondering if she still can -- you know. Heal.

Elphaba doesn't want to be healed. Her wounds are internal, not physical and the only one who could have brought her relief was dead and gone. But she does want to get inside, curl in a corner and sleep.

"Alright then; lead the way"

Isolde throws her a worried look and, typist willing, might offer her arm for support. Should Elphaba ignore it, she'll just silently lead the way to the Mansion's main entrance and push the door open. "I guess this is home," she says doubtfully. "Pray follow me, there are rooms upstairs -- or perhaps you might want to stop in the kitchen for food or something to drink?"

Elphaba takes the arm unwillingly, but she's too weak now to be self-sufficient.

"If there's a corner for me in the attic that would be great, thank you. As for food and water, I think I had already too much liquid nutrients for one night"
