It's a very average day at the Mansion, and Maledisant is bored. She's wandering the halls, looking for someone who might entertain her, but what she finds is far more entertaining than an unsuspecting Mansion resident ( Read more... )

Oh, how wonderful. After Fuchsia's unwarranted attack, Morgana can hardly feel sympathy for laughing at Fuchsia's rather terrible poetry.

She would be less amused if she knew who provided the opportunity for public viewing.

Right now, she's snickering at the attempt at art.

Maledisant was having a good day, but seeing Morgana ruins it completely.

Her smile disappears.

"Were you the one who wrote those?" she asks, haughtily.

Fuchsia Groan could always be a pen name. You never know.

Well, that's a good laugh ruined. Still, Morgana will spare Maledisant a glance, and sharp grin.

"Hardly. I am surprised you do not know the author. I think you would like Lady Fuchsia."

Go ahead, ask her why.

Maledisant sniffs. "I suppose she could not possibly be worse than you."

"She throws tantrums and attacks without cause, all the while behaving as though she is superior to everyone."

Pause.

"Would she be some sort of relation of yours?" There are so many similarities.

"I doubt it," Maledisant replies. "Have you ever wondered why so many people act that way around you? It's because you're insufferable."

"So many? I can only think of a few, from here, and all my years at court." Morgana's enjoying poking the sleeping dragon here.

"But I can see why you would think that. It would be difficult to see other opinions when I have never seen you in the company of another."

Tilting her head, "I can see the relation a little, in the eyebrows."

That insult will only work if Maledisant ever meets Fuchsia, but a delayed insult allows for delayed gratification.

"You're mad," Maledisant says. "I've never even met this woman."

"Yet you take the time to display her poetry."

Could this woman get more entertaining? "Only family can bring about that level of animosity to embarrass them so."

"Unless you have nothing better to do with your time here?"

"What do you think I should be doing with my time?" Maledisant asks. "Skinning rabbits? Rolling around in horse manure?"

Those are the kind of things Morgana likes to do, right?

"The rabbits have long been either eaten or turned into mittens. Everyone was quite grateful for the fresh meat." Morgana, possibly anthropomorphizing Del a little too much, believes the mare would hardly tolerate a dirty stall. "And you must know terrible riders. Do you not know any of the men from Camelot? From what I have seen, they are all excellent riders."

Obvious, Maledisant must spend all her time alone. What miserable company.

"I would suggest you spend time with friends or a suitor, but I doubt you have either."

Maledisant narrows her eyes. "I'm married," she says. "Though I suppose no man has ever looked at you twice."

Oh, that's almost as funny as the poetry. "My condolences to your husband. Would I have met him?" That question translates to does he exist?

On second thought, that might be funnier than the poetry. "And no, no man has ever looked at me twice. They look far more often than that."

"He's not here," Maledisant says. "And I suppose it would take them a while to come to terms with how hideous you are."

"How typical. When a woman has nothing else to say, and feels threatened, she tries to belittle her betters." The comments on hideousness will only make her laugh. Morgana's ego is far too healthy.

"I congratulate your husband then, on his good fortune."

"Are you married, then?" Maledisant asks. "Surely a woman of your age should be. Unless you have some dreadful flaw that no man wants. Are you barren?"
