[Open Post] Return of a young friend

Feb 09, 2013 20:59

Morgana's love of riding has been a part of her since she could walk.  She's never been just a casual rider, and thus wants to be sure her mounts are properly cared for.  When the disaster hit, so many of the horses escaped, but were quickly found.  Tame horses do not survive well in the wild and there are wolves in the woods.

Many have been found, ( Read more... )

If Guinevere is found in the stables, it's probably because she is looking for Mal - perhaps hoping to find him so she can talk him into going with her for a ride, or perhaps she has other reasons to look for him.

One way or the other, the much too young queen of Camelot will be there, looking for a gentle mare she can coddle into letting herself be ridden.

As long as that mare is not Del, who needs a good few weeks of rest and rehabilitation, Morgana might even help find said mare.

In Camelot, Morgana would never have taken care of the feeding, but here she is, measuring out the oats and other grains. Right now, the mare's getting smaller meals, though more often, as to not shock the system.

She's not dressed in any way that might indicate her status at home. In fact, she could quite easily be mistaken for a stable hand.

"We have managed to find them all," She comments, expecting the other woman's here to inspect the herd.

The mare Guinevere is acquainting herself with is a white thing of beauty, a bit slow perhaps on the uptake, but that works well with the Queen.

“Come again?” she asks, “I'd no knowledge any were missing.”

In fact, she recalls quite vividly the efforts of a young man with a strange hat, who spent most of the first night calming down the horses.

"Just this one. She is causing me worry." Morgana sounds as though she's chastising a toddler, when she turns to Del. "Took off a week ago, and I was lucky to find her this morning."

"Do you have one here you favour?"

She has a man here she favours, though she wouldn't say so, of course.

“I do not ride so often, for lack of an escort,” Guinevere replies a touch timidly.

Her cheeks might be a bit warm for her boldness.

"You need an escort here?" Morgana's grown up in a society likely almost as strict as the other woman's, but she never seeks an escort to ride.

"We could ride together, as companions, if you feel uncomfortable on your own."

Guinevere colors a bit (it’s a habit), and she looks at the horse a moment, smiling because she is so very touched by the offer.

“As it please you,” she says, gently. “Though I reckon we shall be cautious - there is aught lurking in the forest, I am told.”

Morgana wasn't meaning to embarrass, but she smiles, to hopefully stop it.

"Caution is always important but we could stay near the outskirts."

Morgana turns back to Del, when the horse snorts. "I have always thought riding to be the most relaxing. Horses are the most honest of creatures."

"They don't lie," says the young queen whose life was a lie. "That is a comfort."

She smiles softly, reaches to touches the white mare's mane, and nods. "My thanks, my lady. I would gladly ride with you, an it please you."

She could do with a few more friends, and with just one offer, Morgana has already gained herself acceptation and welcome into Guinevere's graces.

"If you wished, we could go this afternoon, I could use one of the other mounts?" Del's not fit for a ride, as of yet, but there are plenty of other horses in the barn.

Morgana needs more friends as well, although, wait until they find out who they other one is.

Guinevere having met another Morgana, ages ago, who was far less amenable than this one, she may refuse to believe this is Morgause’s sister, in fact. That is, in truth, a good thing.

“I’d not dressed to ride, my lady,” Guinevere replies gently, “but perhaps in a short while, an you give me time to change?”

And this woman is the complete opposite of her Gwen

"Of course. A ride is not enjoyable if you are worried about ruining your clothes." Morgana loves a ride, but she loves clothes as well.

"Take the time you need."

That earns Morgana a small smile, and Gwen nods. “I shall return anon.”

A short while later, she returns - and while the queen of Britain is still wearing a gown, it's far less adorned, and in a fabric which will withstand horsehair better than the previous silken one. Her cloak too is more appropriate: heavy wool for cold weather, and cut for riding.

“Would you still wish to ride, my lady?”

Morgana's wandered about the stables, finding herself a quiet, docile mare who might better suit any horse the other woman would ride. She's just finished saddling her when the other woman comes back.

The gown makes Morgana smile, as she is dressed in something more "modern" for riding. It's the cloak she wears that gives her the air of someone much earlier in history.

"I am looking forward to it."

“As I am, it's been a time,” Guinevere replies, nodding. She'll go back to the white mare, who is gracious enough to greet her with a small neigh and a tail flick. Thankfully, it's already saddled, perhaps because someone else rode her recently, perhaps because someone was kind enough to do it for her.

Guinevere does not know how to saddle a horse to safe her life.

Only now does she take in Morgana's more modern attire, but at this point, she doesn't bat an eyelash at it: she's been spending time with many people from the future, and is used to their odd ways of dressing.

“Are you ready, then?”

Really, a girl should know how to saddle her own horse.

"I am. Do you need help?" In riding gowns, Morgana often needed to have someone help her.

Of course, Morgana has to admire the dress. She used to have such lovely one in the citadel.

"Your gown is beautiful. I used to have one like it, in royal blue."
