The only reason he's had to spend any time in public was that he was looking for Hisoka, and it's been a while since he finally accepted that his friend is gone. He's spent most of the past few weeks either shut up in his room or out in the woods, deliberately avoiding the paths. It meant he ended up

Well, here's someone who isn't flapped one bit about Hisoka being gone. Call her heartless, she shan't care.

If Melou wants to have some sense talked into him, he can find Anita in her regular watch spot, out on the porch, bundled in an aviator bummer and staring out to the grounds.

Melou would like you to know that he doesn't need any sense talked into him. Because he is being totally sensible.

He's heading outside, and seeing Anita makes him feel irrationally angry and desperately clingy at the same time. He stands some distance away and stares at her moodily.

It's a feeling Anita can understand. She's lost a lot of people too - though with Henry and Lucivar gone, with Jaenelle gone, Hisoka has become the least of her worries.

She can feel him staring at the back of her head, and she says, without turning around, “If you got something to say, Melou, spit it out.”

She's glad he's safe, though.

Melou snorts. "Why would I want to talk to you?"

He's in a bad mood, so he's going to go around insulting all the people he cares about.

“You're still here.”

That's plenty proof for Anita.

"That doesn't mean I want to talk to you," Melou replies, managing to sound angry and miserable at the same time.

“Right,” Anita replies. “And I’m the virgin Mary, praying for your sins. Spit it out, kid.”

"I just said I don't want to talk to you," Melou snaps, frustrated. "Are you deaf? Or just too stupid to listen?"

"Hon, patio's public. You don't want to talk to me, you just shut up and look elsewhere, or go take a walk," Anita says plainly.

Melou is practically fuming at this point. "Why don't you go somewhere else?"

“As I said,” Anita drawls. “Patio’s public. You want to be alone, lock yourself up in your room, kid.”

"I don't want to be alone," Melou snaps. "I just don't want to be around someone as ugly and stupid as you."

“Well, feel free to move along, smartass.”

Anita isn't moving though.

"I don't want to."

Melou's not going anywhere, either.

“Alrighty then.”

Anita settles in for a long wait.

"Is that all you're going to say?" Melou asks, still angry, but now he's starting to sound whiny, too.
