Manuel wasn't scared when he died. It hurt, and he felt dizzy, but he wasn't scared. He knew exactly what would happen when he dashed at Sylvester and Oleander, and in the couple of minutes he had after the knife went into his chest, he felt more at peace than he had in a long time.
He expected to die. He didn't expect to wake up.
At first, not much registers, except that he's lying on a hard wooden floor and it feels like he can barely breathe. He gasps and rolls over onto his side, coughing. He manages to get up onto his hands and knees, and he stays like that until he can breathe more easily and has left a lovely little puddle of saliva and coughed-up blood on the unfamiliar floorboards. He falls back into a sitting position, hands braced against the ground, and for the first time really studies the room that he's found himself in.
It's mostly empty, with a few basic items of furniture and a handful of discarded everyday items which show that, even if the room isn't frequently used, it hasn't been completely forgotten. None of them are familiar. Nothing about the room is familiar. He may not have visited every room in Shadowed Hills, but Manuel has a distinct feeling he's not in the duchy anymore.
He doesn't understand what happened. He knows that he should have died, but somehow he's still breathing. He wonders, briefly, if someone managed to heal him. The knife's gone, and his chest doesn't hurt anymore. The only way to get healed that quickly is by magic, but that doesn't explain why he'd be left alone, in a strange room, still covered in blood. His tunic is soaked in it. He brushes a hand against the fabric. It's a useless action, accomplishing nothing more than getting his own blood all over his fingers. It's still hot.
He listens for some sign that there's someone nearby, but there are no voices, no footsteps, nothing.
"Toby?" he calls, his voice coming out high and scared. He doesn't get an answer.
If someone happens to be walking down the outside corridor, they might spot him; the door to the room he's sitting in is wide open. He doesn't look like someone who's just come out of the middle of 2011. The way he's dressed looks more medieval than anything else. He's still wearing his court clothes, the yellow and blue Shadowed Hills servants livery, though the colours of his tunic are difficult to make out through all the blood. There's more blood on his face, around his nose and mouth and dribbling down his chin. And, at the moment, anyone could easily recognise him as not human. He's not wearing an illusion, so his pointed ears, shiny gold pixie-sweat, and intensely bright colourings are all visible. He's watching the doorway with wide, scared, unnaturally green eyes.

momentsplinter Other relevant info: So, since having one half-fae, teenage knight was clearly not enough... I'm bringing in another one :P
He's only going to be dressed in weird faerie court clothes and visibly non-human in the first thread. Once he's gotten settled, he'll have changed into modern clothing and cast an illusion to make himself look human, so he'll just look like a regular, modern day, completely human teenager to everyone but his welcoming committee. (Though the illusion might not completely fool other supernatural type people. See his profile for more details. The relevant bits are in the physical description section, so there's no need to read that whole, ridiculously long thing if you're feeling lazy). Permission is preemptively granted for anyone who may do so to pick up on the fact he isn't entirely human. Feel free to mention it to him, too! His reaction will probably be funny 8D
Also, feel free to have your pup run into him during daytime, even though he is nocturnal. I'm dumping him at the Mansion in the middle of the day, and given the circumstances, he's not going to be sleeping very well anyway.
Also, he is rather upset, and I don't know how long it will take him to calm down, so his welcoming committee might end up having to babysit a hysterical changeling for a while. And he's probably going to cry in at least half of his threads. Have fun! :D
The first commenter acts as a welcoming committee. All following interactions are deemed later in the day, when the character is settled.
