Dream a Little Dream of Me (OTA, Arrival)

Mar 13, 2012 11:40

Arthur found himself standing in a hallway. As always, he felt a surge of anxiety before a quick glance to the left, and then to the right showed no sign of danger. This was a vast improvement over situations he had found himself in before, and he relaxed slightly before calmly sliding his hand in his pocket and pulling out a red die.

Crouching, he rolled the die on the pavement, raising an eyebrow as it rolled a six. As it should - in reality. In the dreamscape, it almost always rolled a three, occasionally a two. Never a six.

He rolled it again, and again, all to the same result. Although his calm showed no sign of fraying, his face was growing more and more concerned.

There was no way that this could be reality. And yet his totem had never failed him before. He remembered clearly where he had been before - in his New York apartment, lying low until he could make sure that Saito had thrown enough money at COBOL engineering to make it go away. He had been watching the news, and thought perhaps he had drifted off...

But this wasn't right.

In dreams, strange things could happen. He had learned to accept that. But in reality, there were certain rules that had to be followed, and one simply didn't appear in a new place.

Arthur stood, putting the die back in his pocket, his brown eyes searching the hallway for signs of life, for signs of recognition - and hopefully, someone who could explain to him exactly what was going on.

Name: Arthur
Fandom: Inception
Media: Film
Typist: sAmmii
Other relevant info: Arthur's coming in about a week after the events of Inception. He's incredibly introspective, (but not shy) so don't be concerned if getting him to have long conversations is like pulling teeth.
