Been a long time...

Rose is having a very busy semester as well, so she’s no fun either.  I’ve been keeping myself very busy, so that’s good at least.  Work has been pretty crazy, and I’ve had to pick up all the slack on household matters.  I cook dinner pretty much every night of the week, do most of the cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, etc.  It’s kind of exhausting, and I can't even imagine adding kids into the equation.  Now I know why Fluffy never cooks.  I can’t begin to imagine how my mom took care of four kids, did all the housework, AND worked.  When I was in high school, she  worked and went to school all at the same time.  At that point we were all old enough to help, but still.  I don’t think I could do that now, at this age, much less in my mid-late forties.

I went away on business to New Orleans and San Antonio for two weeks the end of October, beginning of November.  I tacked on a visit to my friends in Austin on the end of the San Antonio trip.  San Antonio is surprisingly cute.  I didn’t see any of Austin, as I spent my entire visit on Maureen's ranch with her husband and two kids.  It’s pretty cool, actually, but I did get rammed by a pigmy goat.  I also spent the two weekends before and one after my trips in Philly for my cousin's wedding, Annie's & Christy’s birthdays, so I was away like 5 weekends in a row.  I have lots of interesting anecdotes about all of the above, far too many for one post.

Maybe I'll have time this weekend.  I’m going to Orlando at the end of this week.  I’m not really looking forward to four days in Mickey Mouse’s armpit, but at least there are outlets nearby.  I’m bringing an empty suitcase and renting a car, so I can do all my Christmas shopping.  Brian’s list of suggested gifts couldn’t have come at a better time.  And if there’s anywhere I can find a pony with leprosy or a soiled wig, it’s central Florida.

I’m not a very Christmassy person, but I’m really looking forward to the holidays this year.  I took the whole week off, so that we can spend a few days after Christmas in Philly.  Hopefully all'a y'all can set a night aside to hang out.  We have a lot of fun to pack into a few weeks before Mike’s spring semester starts.
