I went there and left an incredulous comment.
I write all sorts of kinky mischief so it's near impossible to shock me but concentration camp fic? Seriously?
It was a gut reaction, but a stupid one. What was I even doing? I write underage sex and humiliation fics.
The author replied politely.
I did put a warning on this chapter and the tags do say what happens.
Also, the camp hasn't been mentioned at all in the story, so nor do you know what will happen.
But, the comment does mean something so thanks.
To me this is fair enough, because that's what I'd reply to anyone who'd left a complaint on my fics (and the universe knows my fics are not for the fainthearted.) Don't like the tags, don't read.
I felt bad enough for my comment so I qualified my comment.
Then, when I received a notification of the author's reply in my inbox I just clicked the "Read all comments" button out of admittedly morbid curiosity.
Wow or as they say ... Oh Boy.
An anonymous but nonetheless foaming commenter left following comment in that thread:
@ Caroline lamb, ofc you wrote loads of stuff to satisfy your Own Sadistic mind, humiliating tom's character over and over. You've no shame, so you don't have anything for people who went through holocaust and ofc you will be here to support who writes it. Don't play that fiction card over and over. I wish all the Humiliating stuff happens to you, which you put through tom in your sadistic fic. Then you will know the pain
I mean Nazi AU aside, now that writer got even the hatred destined for me on her story. (Disabling anonymous comments on my fics has been a good idea after all.)
Btw, if anything I always suspected that my fics betray my masochistic rather than a sadistic side. What do you think? Am I a sadist or a masochist? :D
But the most important thing of all is: the sheer ugliness of the comment reminded me of the many, many good and patient and lovely and encouraging comments I've got over the years from you. I've been spoilt with super-nice peeps, some of you who became my friends, and I almost never had to deal with online bullying, harassment, trolling or any negativity. So, here is my thank you and my love to you guys. You're the best!
