CSI Episode 6.04: "Shooting Stars"
I'm taking Clea Duvall as a shout-out, because she's my ideal woman. Especially when she's playing a crazy girl. Damn you, HBO, for cancelling her show and forcing her to take (very small) guest spots on CSI. Not that I'm not glad to see her, but she's better than a guest spot, damn it.
You know, just when I give up on this show, they find a way to force me to hope again. I really did go into this season without expectation. I was just going to watch the show, take it for what it is, and ignore the tiny, squeeful place in my heart still reserved for Nick and Greg. And then they started tossing me little bones.
Last week it was Nick's 'ew, het porn' face and his pointed look at Greg at the crime scene. The week before it was...pretty much the same, actually. And this week, the writers helpfully chose to leave Nick behind in the lab, where I can imagine him going to the DNA lab to steal a few minutes alone with his man. It's practically season four again. And who'd ever have thought I'd be nostalgic for season four?
There was waving across the crime scene, and Nick freaking out about going underground, and this is the part where I like to imagine Greg stealing glances at him, wanting to go over and ask him if he's okay but knowing that if he does it'll just make it worse, so he doesn't say anything. It's like The Season Of Nick. Goddamn it, just when I thought I was free.
Seriously, they were together practically the whole episode, just hanging out in the background, working side by side, the way we have been wishing for since season three. I'm almost scared to hope that this can continue, because I know how CBS likes to fuck with me. I even got a bonus Sara/Warrick scene, and you know, it's kind of easy to forget that he's married, so I still don't really get what the point was. Other than giving Catherine something else to feel sorry for herself about. She's pretty, though. I actually blushed when he said 'I don't care, Mrs. Brown.' I am a loser.
Though someone should tell Warrick not to look into the copier while it's running. He's going to go blind.
"Soul Survivors"! Hahahahaha. That movie sucked so much.
I don't even know what the case was about because I was too busy imagining Nick and Greg together the whole time. It's been awhile, but I have to admit, I kind of missed this feeling.
See, all this enjoying the show shit scares me, because as soon as I start writing fic again, they're going to pull the rug out from under me. I know they will. But it's Nick, and he's so damaged and hot and charming, and Greg's so subdued and mature and focused, and...and...
Damn it.
Next week: Oh, Nick. You fucked up, beautiful man. ::whimper:: Damn this show to hell.
~
I don't have much to say. Not in the fandom, not really that invested in whatever happens this season. But I did find it amusing that while Danny's obviously got a past with Miss Thing, he's still completely in love with Martin. The sandwich scene was the saving grace of this episode. Because yeah, he finds it amusing that what's-her-face wants to pretend like they don't know each other, but regardless of their history (whatever it may be, although I doubt it's sexual considering how completely lame and obvious that would be) he's moved on to Martin. And Martin is his lobster, so it doesn't matter what came before. Just that one scene alone shows how completely old-married-couple they are already, and they haven't even slept together yet.
You kind of have to laugh at CBS for trying so damn hard when it's obviously a losing battle. When you're not plotting ways to kill Bruckheimer & Co., that is.
Tomorrow there will be fic. But not until after I write at least one of my papers.
Oh, and people left stuff at my house. Someone remind me to do something about that this weekend.
