Guys, I got the greatest Yuletide gifts this year! I have been gifted with not one, but TWO wonderful, meaty, LONG Halloweentown fics. I feel so spoiled, you don't even know. So I'm going to talk about them here, and then you should go read them, because they're wonderful and they deserve so much more love.
Trick RSVP Treat, Halloweentown, Marnie Piper/Luke, 12,090 words. When Luke accidentally proposes, he's stunned by Marnie's acceptance...and even more stunned by the work required to hold a Cromwell wedding.
Oh, this fic. It's so lovely, from the descriptions of Marnie and Luke's house to the wonderful characterization. It's told from Luke's POV, and captures perfectly exactly why it's always been Marnie for him. It's the fic I never knew I needed. Plus there's a delightful hint of Dylan/Ethan, and I'm never going to say no to that.
Mortal Jeopardy, Halloweentown, Ethan Dalloway/Dylan Piper, 10,786 words. Marnie's studying abroad, so this Halloween, it's up to Dylan and Ethan to save Halloweentown.
An adventure-filled and adorable romp through both Halloweentown, and Dylan's sad lack of a social life. Dylan/Ethan has always been kind of a back of the mind, 'what if' pairing for me when I happen to watch the third or fourth movies, but this fic has cemented them solidly in my mind as a fantastic idea. I love the idea, and the way they get together here is really fun. Plus there's a hint of Marnie/Aneesa (+Amazons!) femslash that I adore.
Stayin' Alive, 10th Kingdom, troll gen, 3365 words.
How much do I love that there's fic about Blue Bell, Blabberwort, and Burly? They're the best part of the miniseries, IMO, and I love them here. They're ridiculous and perfectly in character and I'm just so excited that this story exists.
Lessons, Big Eden, Pike/Henry, 3672 words. Henry notices that Pike seems tired and quiet. Henry wants to help.
In which Henry attempts to learn to cook, fails miserably, and still manages to make things nice for Pike. I really love these two. It's ridiculous how much.
Five Times Danny Chose Daniel, Body (movie concept), Danny/Daniel, 3368 words.
If you're unfamiliar, this fandom is based on a movie concept in which a kindergarten teacher named Danny finds himself in need of a bodyguard. Enter Daniel. Why someone's trying to kill a kindergarten teacher, no one knows. There have been a few fanworks created based on the concept, but I really enjoyed this one. Obviously canon knowledge isn't required.
What Happens In Hull, IT Crowd, Douglas/April, 2475 words. Douglas wants April back, and he'll have to take a long hard look at himself first.
The characterization in this one is a-MAY-zing. It fits the tone of the show really well, too. I could see the episode playing out in my head. If you're a fan of the show, you'll be a fan of this fic.
Subject: By the way, how often do you talk to Joe Biden?, Parks & Rec/Legally Blonde, Leslie Knope, Elle Woods, 1273 words. Senator Elle Woods has been closely following a fellow blonde's campaign in Indiana, and she just has to ask her where she got that particularly chic blazer. And then they become friends!
I just...I can't even explain this fic. Just go read it. It's perfect.
Make and Mend, My Beautiful Laundrette, Johnny/Omar, 2515 words. Moving in together is Omar’s idea.
This story hurts just as much as the canon, but in all the right ways. There's so much against them, but they deserve a happy ending. This fic lets me believe they might get it.
Those are my favorites out of what I've read so far. There may be more as I keep poring through the archive. I still have a lot of reading to do.
