When I left for Florida I was blond. I've been blond since sometime before Dragon*Con, when I let my hairdresser at the time experiment with my color. It started out sort of caramel-reddish, but despite the fact that I've been using the same color ever since, it's gotten progressively more blond as the days get longer. That's just how my hair rolls.
I've suspected for some time that the blond wasn't really working for me, but no one would tell me the truth. So when I got home I asked my mom, and she said, and I quote, "It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look like you." Honesty! Refreshing.
So on Sunday night I dyed my hair back to its usual dark brown. Guess how many people at work noticed? One. So either they all hate it (which is ridiculous because it looks 1000 times better) or I finally look like myself again so they just figure a week in the sun did me some good.
Speaking of which, have some more picspam (lots and lots of picspam.) This is mostly for the benefit of
jengeorge's kid; I like to borrow his mom for vacations from time to time, so I figure the least I can do is post 100+ pictures of Legoland to hold him over until he convinces his parents to take him.
Lots of the figures tucked around the park talk and move. This one talks and sprays water across the way to the guys in the picture below.
First stop on any family trip: the restroom. This gentleman greeted us outside:
He talked. He also told knock-knock jokes, but I never got to hear the punchline.
They have lots of little figures tucked in unexpected places around the property. It's kind of fun to try and spot them.
This gentleman was snoring. The kids were delighted:
While Zachary rode the big kid rollercoaster with his dad and brother, Mia tried out the horses:
She also tried out the pig, which oinked:
Of course, once she figured out where her brother had gone, the pouting began:
Inside the main restaurant:
The food was actually pretty healthy. Go figure.
These were taken at the safari ride, which seemed kind of neat, but it broke down while the kids were standing in line.
The elephant spouted water from its trunk:
The hippo just roared:
Behind Mia you can see the 'driving school' track where kids six and up can test out their road skills. I am proud to say Zachary did better than a lot of the big kids, even though he was the littlest one out there.
A Ford Explorer made entirely of Legos:
And the little kids' driving school, where Mia schooled the boys who kept trying to run her off the track:
Legoland Orlando was built on the former site of Cypress Gardens, which in recent years has been failing to bring in new crowds. I'm happy to say that they've preserved quite a bit of the history and feel of the place. This lady stands near the entrance to the corner of the park which is still the original gardens, including the 80-year-old Banyan tree that they preserved:
They also kept the waterskiing show, though they've 'Lego-ized' it:
Here's some video of the show:

I apologize for my camera. It's just a little point-and-shoot.
This gentleman was having a rest outside one of the shops:
My one complaint: NO iced coffee to be had anywhere in the park. BOO, Legoland.
I have a LOT of pictures of Miniland which I will put in a separate post, because this is a ridiculous amount of pictures already.
