CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY!!
5. "Fresh Feeling" by the Eels
Why: It’s a sweetly happy song, optimistic, about those new feelings you get at the beginning of a relationship, how everything else in the world can look better because of it.
Key Lyrics: “You don’t have a clue/ What it is like to be next to you/ I’m here to tell you/ That it is good, that it is true.”

6. "Hold You In My Arms" by Ray LaMontagne
Why: It’s what I call a ‘comfort-love’ song. It’s about wanting to be there for the other person when something goes wrong, wanting to be the one who makes everything better.
Key Lyrics: “When you kissed my lips with my mouth so full of questions/ It’s my worried mind that you quiet/ Place your hands on my face/ Close my eyes and say/ That love is a poor man’s food…”

7. "I and Love and You" by the Avett Brothers
Why: There are about a hundred Avett songs I could use. They’re a band so honest and genuine, and I’ve been following them for pretty close to ten years. I chose this one for the idea of how difficult it can be to say the words ‘I love you.’ And how important words are between two people. Also? They sing about Brooklyn. So.
Key Lyrics: “Three words that became hard to say:/ I and Love and You/ What you were then, I am today/ Look at the things I do/ Brooklyn, Brooklyn/ Take me in/ Are you aware the shape I’m in?/ My hands, they shake/ My head, it spins/ Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn/ Take me in.”

8. "I Know" by Meaghan Smith
Why: In the same vein as Track 7, this one is also about the difficulty of actually saying ‘I love you.’ But this one’s a little bit sweeter and forgiving than the last one. I heard this on the radio randomly one day, and downloaded it straight away. It’s just a soft little song.
Key Lyrics: “It’s in our hello/ In the way your smile glows/ And it’s in our goodbye/ And the tear in your eye/ And all in between/ When you’re looking at me/ I know, I know, I know/ What you don’t say.”
