Two sketches, now with more steampunk!
ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS IS PLANNING SOMETHING INVOLVING MY ADDRESS AND SHE WON'T TELL ME WHAT.
*cough*
The main character from my steampunk story Nephilim, which is still in the works. This guy's name name is Maverick James, and he is scruffy, Irish, and generally bad-tempered. XD <3
He rides a rocket-powered surfboard thing in my mind DON'T WONDER WHY, I JUST BLAME DISNEY. The sketch itself is hokey, but whatever. And for some reason, I always draw his shirt open at the chest like that. XDDD <3
And this is John Artemis, who is a character from Maverick's past who's bound to show up in the story sometime. He wields a rocket launcher/bazooka? IDK my mind hears the word "steampunk" and it's like "LET'S GO CRAZY WITH IMPROBABLE WEAPONS AND MODES OF TRANSPORTATION" but I guess that's the point of the genre.
I really, really like this one, so I may finish it and stuff. And dare I say I have improved? I certainly don't remember ever drawing legs/hands/foreshortening this well on my other recent sketches. XD Artemis' legsssssssss omg they're beautiful. And his boots. His boots are also beautiful. I just love them over-the-calf boots, it's a weakness.
I also like combining the name "John" with strange last names. I have another character named John Avocado. IM TTLY SRS, GAIZ. But then again, he lives in a world where there are people named Ms. Intaglio and Poco Piu Mosso. But that's another story.
