It is always best to remember though, that it IS a consience matter. I too follow the rule of thumb. You just have to use your bible trained christian consience as to whether or not a movie is appropriate.

In this day and age, some PG movies (a recent demonic one I can think of) can have more inappropriate content than a rated R movie(based on a true story) that is rated as such because of a controversial subject (racism, rape etc.).

Really you have to look at WHAT the movie is about, and ask yourself "can watching this hurt my spirituality?"

For example I watched Amistad, it was rated R because of slavery and racism. However that was a true story and part of our world history, therefore I feel it was ok to watch. However watching for example some Rated R movie that is filled with glorified violence, and thuggish behavior would obviously be inappropriate.

And as always, using due caution and prudence is best when mentioning such things to fellow witnesses, as we all have different consiences. I may be ok with watching "Amistad" but another witness may feel its forbidden because it's rated R. Therefore I really don't recommend to any fellow witness a good movie if its Rated R. If they want to watch it, then they'll find out about it, and then they can let their consience determine if it's appropriate to watch. :) Just my 2¢
