It's been a stressful week, although exciting and ripe with interesting learning experiences. I've had to go into the office every morning at 8 or 8:30 to attend my training classes. Mostly we watch these DVD's that talk about generating a client database. That's where I have a problem, as I don't yet have many business relationships. Most people know me as Carly the cinema employee or Carly the highschool student, so I also somehow need to become Carly the real estate agent in most people's minds. I want all my family and friends to think of me when they overhear someone talking about buying or selling a house.
On top of the classes, I've been shadowing my mentor at some of her appointments. My mentor is amazing, both in a professional way and a personal way. I'm so glad I was paired with her because she has a very natural, relaxed way of doing business, rather than being pushy or cheesy. I hope to be somewhat like her one day. And she happens to be the mother of someone I used to work with at the cinema! I don't know if she wants me to talk about her mom on here, so I won't name names.
There is also another new girl at Re/max that will be training with me... her name is Cassie and so far we have been getting along really well. I'll be sharing an office with her too, but she hasn't been around much for me to get to know her yet because she's still working another job right now.
The hardest part is not being there when Carter wakes up in the morning. I'm used to having him come and lay in bed with us in the morning after we retrieve him from his crib. He'll sit and watch cartoons for about a half hour while he drinks his bottle, and then he throws the baba down and all hell breaks loose! He jumps all over Matt and I, grabbing our faces and howling... then he climbs off the bed and runs around our bedroom, dancing along to the music on his cartoons. Finally, we drag ourselves out of bed and go out into the livingroom to start breakfast. Matt usually cooks up a bunch of eggs for himself and Carter, and I pour myself a big bowl of cereal. But this week, I've missed all that, barely returning home in time to see Matt off to work. But I guess I had better get used to it...
Matt is actually just now trying to get on first shift, which means I'll have to bring Carter out to grandma's in the morning before my class. But at least this way he will have the entire evening off and we will be able to have dinner together most nights. This week we haven't had much quality time together because of the opposite schedules, so it will be nice. Plus, we can get on a sleep schedule that matches Carter's, so we should actually get more sleep than we're used to. We usually stay up til 2 am, and get woken up at 8 or 9, and that's just not enough sleep.
Well, I just heard Matt pull up, so I'm gunna go. Later!
