Chapter 2;
Guillermo asks around town for investors and after being shot at by a crotchety old man makes his way up the hill to the manor of an obviously wealthy man. Getting an audience he tries to sell the crew and ship as an investment to this man, and is forcibly expunged after getting a little threatening.
Amari bumps into a monk and after some talk is told, "I know that we shall meet again," before heading off.
Cassie almost manages to purchase a goat, but instead is able to procure some more scant rations for the trip.
Phineas recruits Amari to help with some boat loading, but some bumbling hands and slippery feet leads to more cotton on the ground than desired, Although, the ship-master is in a hurry and as "thanks" for helping load the boat, offers that Phin may keep whatever of the cotton he can recover from the dock floor.
Ignatius finds a Blacksmith that happens to have a store of Nitrostarch and after some camaraderie and much "talking of shop" manages to trade for some. Making a small grenade on the spot he leaves it in the hands of the Blacksmith as a thank you.
Strange map in hand, Drerig appears and gathers the crew; They head back to the ship and have an encounter with the dock-master who demands 2 shillings to be allowed to cast off.
While Gui chats with the man, Cass sneaks around and tackles the man into the water. Making a break for the ship they begin to set sail as a boy runs up with a letter from Nicholas on the Hill and turns it over to Guillermo who finds 10 Crowns enclosed with a note saying that unless this investment is doubled, the crew should not plan to return to this port.
The Mighty Voyager makes for Allthorp and drops anchor a short ways off shore, putting in aboard a skiff found in the hold. This takes several trips as the skiff can only hold 3 persons.
While walking up the road to the village of Allthorp in the center of the island, the crew is greeted by the entire village, up in arms. A short bout of Parlay has the villagers send for the parson and exchanging of words about being allowed to the well at the center of town. While the villagers all stand around, gaping and japing, several experimental dives are made, eventually leading to Drerig, Amari and Cassandra making their way into a secret underwater tunnel, and finding some dug caverns. Noting a glitter of light at the base of the water shaft that they swam up, Amari dives down and recovers a key from the bottom.
In the first tunnel Amari triggers a pit trap and falls onto some spikes, bringing him very near death. Conveniently though, Cassandra notices that there is another key in place of one of the barbs set in the floor. Drerig drops down into the pit to help Amari out as Cassandra moves to investigate a body slumped at the far end of the hall. As she approaches it rises and begins to grab at her. With Drerig rushing to her aid, a struggle ensues in which the crew-members soon find that they are unlikely to be able to stab this thing to death. Amari makes his way past and delves deeper into the catacombs, with Drerig and Cassandra growing tired of barely slicing thin bits off of the corpse.
Some back and forth between the Ghast, the quick woman and the tough guy sees them drawing the aberrant horror down several flights of stairs and eventually pushing it into a central pit, which at the bottom are crossed wire, that cut the body into small pieces as it collides with them.
The Ghast had dropped a small journal, of which the last pages revealed him to be Duke Daraine, one of the 13 Dukes of Octopon. He had apparently come down here to hide away the sword of Primus 13 years past when Pirate-Lord Bloth led the destruction of Octopon. Apparently the Pirate-Lord had pursued him, and unable to escape he met his end. But, even in death, he never surrendered his post.
While this page is being read a strange clinking and chipping noise draws their attention to some glass blocks in the ceiling above the shaft in the center of the room. After a few minutes, one of the blocks is removed to reveal Ignatius, Phineas and Guillermo. They drop down and relate a story of how after the rest of the crew did not return the Parson became more loose-lipped about the underground tunnels being put in as a safe-guard against anyone making away with the 13 treasures of Rul, the very kind of thing that did occur when Pirate-Lord Bloth brought down the new Kingdom.
The Parson is professedly a member of a secret organization specifically created by King Primus to protect the Treasures of Rul. His role is to be here to guard against the wrong people from accessing the sword hidden away below. As far as he knows, the Well is the only entrance. Guillermo manages to convince him to take the crew to see an old Cotter who had lived on this island before Lord Bloth had razed it to the ground 13 years ago. The old Cotter takes them to a small cavern he knew of that was not a natural opening. Ignatius, expectedly, sets charges and opens the small hole to at least a man-sized portal.
Descending, unsure of what they would find, the trio charges the Cotter to guard this entrance and seek the Parson if they do not return out of it with-in a day. He says, "Yeah Sure, whatever."
As the spelunkers sit to rest, and Phineas begins to bind the wounds of Amari and Cassandra, Drerig makes his way around the room admiring the architecture. Approaching the conspicuous dragon statue at the north end of the room, he feels compelled to touch it and finds a strange crease in the forehead that seems unnecessarily out of place. prodding at it, he manages to open a small recess which reveals yet another key. With a look of shock and, perhaps, consternation on Drerig's face the camera fades to black...
