So I have been informed that I haven't posted since January. Well, I guess I can fix that with this fun little post about what I did today.
Today after school I picked David up from his department and then we drove off to Burbank in search of a Hollywood mainstay- Baron's hats. Are we big into Hollywood? Nope, but David's lovely fedora having been rained on, swum in and in other ways harassed needed to be blocked and starched again. I guess it is a sign of the times when you can but a hat six ways from Sunday - on the internet, in many many stores but there is only one milliner in the metropolitan area. So this is how it comes that David, having wanted a fedora after seeing Indiana Jones gets his refurbished at the same place that made the original.
As we were walking back from dropping off his favorite hat I noticed something odd in one of the yards- the lawn sculpture was moving, wait- it is a real tortoise- no two tortoises -- make that five! They were HUGE some 2.5 feet long and very very cool looking. The owner noticed me ogling and invited us to see his REALLY old tortoise a 25 year old named Shelly. He even fed her for us. Now that was cool.
So that was my afternoon. In real news we are packing my classroom into a storage unit tomorrow and I don't have the address where we will unpack it. I sure hope that comes through on multiple levels but just in case I have brought home my personal materials. I leave to go back east on June 18th - I will be finishing up my Masters degree in Baltimore, hanging out with lots of cool Montessori people from training centers all over the country.
Much love to all,
Sarah
