Piano Recital

I went to church today! No seriously I really did.

Mike, Jack's son (my former employer. I love saying Michael Jack's son) invited me to a piano recital at 1pm. He was playing. It's a lovely old church St Bart's next to St Andrews the local park. Gothic and full of stained glass windows. The recital was in the left hand nave. Comfortable blue seating provided and about 15 in the audience. Mike asked me to be in the front row to discourage 'strange' people from distracting him while he played. He played a number of classic 18th & 19th century composers, then turned his hand at a few Latin numbers and Jazz. The audience was friendly and chatted to him in between pieces, some were regular church goers, others had just come off the street.

While the music played I was bedazzled by the wonderful stained glass windows. The clothing in them was so clever. The people were wearing cotton, wool, embroidered silk and velvet. The silk and velvet being especially realistic. The craft of the glass makers is something that can never be recreated. There was a few modern pieces but they looked poor in comparison.

Anyway after a little chat with the Rev. Peter, we went off for a healthy lunch at the Bay Tree in Henleaze. I had warm smoked salmon on a bed of rocket, with piy lentils & crispy bacon and new potatoes. Followed by Earl Grey in the little individual tea pots. I hate it when a good restraunt spoils the food by giving you a cup of warmish water with a tea bag. They do that and I never return, because it spoils the whole meal. Anyway I'd recommend this one! lol
