Happy New Year!

Dec 31, 2007 13:07

I hope this finds everyone doing well and that they had a nice holiday.  Time seems to go by so fast these days. It has been a long time since I have updated or checked LJ but plan to do better in 2008.

July 2007 turned out to be a very mixed month for emotions.  July 3rd we had to make the hard decision to put our Murphy Bear to sleep for her final rest.  She was 14 years old and lived a good life and brought me and many others great joy having her with us.

May and June she started to slow down and things were just not going as we had liked them too - shortness of breath, not as lively, not eating well things like that.  We made a few trips to the vet and tried a few things only to have to make the painful decision we made.  It was and still remains difficult not having her around.  Not a day goes by that I dont think of and miss her greatly.

July 5th I started a new job at HSI here in the West Port area.  A bit further form the house 50 miles each way daily so that sucks gas these days. I am still working in the HIV/AIDS field as I have for the past 10+ years.  I am the Central Intake Coordinator for the St. Louis area - all newly diagnosed or clients wishing to get back into Case Management in St. Louis go thru our office.  I am really enjoying what I am doing and it is still keeping my social work skills up.

On the first day of my job I was told that things would be changing down the road - always fun to hear on your first day of a new job.  Soon I will be doing intakes only about 25% of the time - the rest of the time will be doing data base administration - our company runs and maintains the central data base for the State of Missouri and soon for the State of Kansas.  I will be doing end user training in Kansas for a week at a time sometime in early 2008 then be the main end-user support for about 30 case managers in Kansas.

While the job is further to drive daily - it was such a great opportunity for me that I couldn't pass it up - even if it meant giving up some of my vacation time and sick time.

The end of the year was good - Hause and I are doing well and enjoying doing things around the house.  We have added to the zoo!  We now have three cockatiels - Butters, Biscuit and Muffin as well as Hause's Christmas present - a bearded dragon we just purchased yesterday named Boris.  Fritz and Ahnee continue to run the household - Fritz has moved up to the Alpha dog and Ahnee just follows him around and they play and have a good time.  I think they too miss Bear at times.

Well that is enough for now.  I want to thank those of you for the nudges - just took me a bit before I responded!

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 2008!
