Our horse, Secret Of The Sea is boarded at a big ranch just a few minutes away from where we live. He has never seen such lush grass, nor has he been in this big a pasture. It's great. We visited him yesterday and took photos. He was standing in a dirt corner, despite the acres and acres of green grass at his disposal. The pinto mare in the photo is his new best friend. Secret picked her out of the 20 or so horses in the pasture to be his buddy, they never get too far away from each other. She's cute and friendly. I don't know her name, but Clint dubbed her The Painted Couch.
There's a story behind that name...years ago when we trained racehorses on the track, we had a chestnut mare named Terry's Song. She never did much racing-wise, but she had a long back and was a very comfortable horse to ride. I nicknamed her The Red Couch, after a book of photos I saw where the photographer carted a red couch around to different locations in the U.S. and photographed it.
So anyway, this pinto mare has a broad back and looks like a comfortable ride, so until I find out her real name, she is The Painted Couch.
