I am sort of getting settled into our new house, still feel disoriented and tired but it's starting to seem like home. Again, there's nothing like a 900 mile move to make you reaccess personal belongings. At our house in Montana, we had lots of square footage in the house plus a huge barn, and over the four years we were there, too many belongings crept into our life.
I no longer have a huge attic as an art room, instead I am working out of a spare bedroom. The good thing about being back to a smaller space is being forced to stay more organized and not expand into too many different types of art. My main focus has always been painting, with ceramics as a secondary pursuit. But I like a lot of things--something that is "dangerous" to me is Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. When I get that magazine (or others like it) I tend to want to try some of the multi media projects.
So I am going to tow the line by:
-Painting first.
-Ceramics second. My ceramics are also limited to very small works these days, such as ornaments and beads.
-Occasional multi-media projects will be limited ATC or postcard sized work, because they can be corraled into a photo album page.
-Continue to get rid of things that have no function.
-Use up the art supplies I have before buying more, even if it means the exact color or size may not be perfect to what I have in mind.
-Utilize etsy.com more to sell my art. I sold several paintings on etsy in the past month, which is very encouraging and it's fun, cheaper, and easier to list than on ebay.
