More Than A Remaster...

”Don’t think that I can take another empty moment
Don’t think that I can fake another hollow smile
Its not enough just to be sorry
Don’t think that I could take another talk about it”
-Matchbox Twenty, Bed Of Lies

Well, nothing too much to report. Work is going okay. Nothing really new to report there. But I wanted to make a note that it’s been going decent. Even started earning commission on things I sell on my last check. Yay!

I finally was able to hear the remastered editions of the first 2 Boston albums. I’ve been wanting these since I read about them on the official site, and the chance to obtain my own copies was a chance I couldn’t pass up.
However, as pleased as I am to have them, I don’t feel they lived up to what Tom Scholz (founder of Boston) has said he was doing/has done. He claimed to have totally gone in and reworked the highs and lows and bass, etc of each song, perfecting them and so forth.
I just don’t hear it.
I listened to More Than A Feeling (my all time fave Boston song) a few times over, switching between the remaster and the original.
It just wasn’t there.
What I did hear though, was a much cleaned up version of the songs I’ve come to love so much. They didn’t sound higher or lower. Just cleaner. Which is still worth it in the end to me. I just wish I hadn’t gotten my expectations so high. But oh well, I still recommend them to people for a great album that sounds clean and vibrant. Just nothing really “new” here.
UPDATE: After reviewing the official site again, I’ve decided I’m gonna keep trying to listen and discern just what Tom claims he did. He says every second [millisecond] had something touched on them, and he went into so much detail about what he did, I find it hard to believe it’s all hot air. It could just very easily be that, being a musician, he can hear the differences that I’m just not trained or attuned to hearing.

Also managed to finally replace some of my old cassette tapes I’ve been wanting to. I managed to finally get the CD versions of the Back To The Future soundtracks (all 3 movies and the second musical score OST for the first one). So, it’s cool to listen to them after so many years when I want now, having good memories of watching those movies.

Well, 4 more days until SW: Galaxies finally cancels. Still a little bummed, but no sense of regret about the decision. I’m betting that final day I’ll be hyperventilating….

So Bryan lost his second tooth today. *sigh* Not really what I wanted to happen, and I was starting to think he wasn’t going to lose that second one I’ve mentioned before in a couple entries. But, according to him, he got hit with a toy in the mouth yesterday (spent the night at my mother’s) and it knocked it loose even more so until it was only in there maybe by a stubborn thread. So we got home and pulled it out easily enough (I didn’t want him choking on it during his sleep).
So, now he’s got 2 front teeth missing. I feel kinda bad, but I suppose it’s not all bad as the other 2 are already starting to come in.

I suppose that’s it for now. More as it comes.

music, sw: galaxies, work (okay), son (tooth)
