Chapter 1

Jin looked around the crowded, smoke-filled room.

He saw women throwing themselves at men who were throwing their money around. This was somewhere Jin was used to frequenting, mostly because the hostesses were beautiful and knew exactly what to do to make their clients happy.

It wasn’t a place for a weak-minded man who couldn’t handle separating reality from fantasy. Jin was well aware of this, ever since he first started coming to this club.

Then he closed his eyes as the scent of perfume filled the air around him. He felt a subtle touch on his shoulder and turned to see two large green eyes staring back at him.

“What’s your name?”

Jin licked his lips and cleared his throat.

“Akanishi-Akanishi Jin.”

A smile formed on the lipstick-stained mouth that Jin couldn’t help staring at.

“Are you new here? I know I would’ve remembered a face like yours. You aren’t like the usual clientele that comes here.”

Jin smiled, feeling both flattered and nervous, as the woman speaking to him, brushed her blond hair out of her face. She didn’t seem to be just socializing with Jin for his money; there seemed to be something more when he spoke to her.

She also seemed to sense Jin’s nervousness around her and continued the conversation on her own.

“My name’s Ai. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Should we start off with a drink?”

An hour later and Jin was drunk out of his mind. His vision blurred and the bright lights of the club almost blinded him every time he blinked. His head pounded and he felt like he was going to throw up but then he saw Ai’s face and he seemed to forget his body’s low tolerance for liquor.

“Ai-chan, how about another-another bottle?” he smiled with his eyes barely open.

The beautiful hostess smiled widely and called to the bartender for another bottle of the liquor that made Jin cringe when he saw it.

A little while later and Ai was helping Jin out of the club. It was closed and all the hostesses and clients were on their way back to reality, leaving the fantasy and the bright lights behind.

“Akanishi-sama, are you okay?”

Jin was about to fall over but he thought he could impress Ai by acting as if he was a lot more capable of holding his liquor then he had been letting on. He stood up straight and smiled widely.

“Ai-chan! Let’s go have some fun!” he screamed without thinking.

Ai smiled nervously and replied, “Akanishi-sama, you’re drunk. We need to get you home.”

Jin screamed a bit more but then he lost his balance and fell on the sidewalk.

He woke up later in a strange bed, his vision still slightly blurry. He could see his body when he looked down and was shocked to see that it was completely uncovered. He was naked and when he turned his head, he saw that he was not in his apartment. He then turned when the door opened. A female figure came into the room, but Jin could barely make it out.

“Ai-chan?” he whispered.

The figure walked closer to him and whispered, “You were a lot more than I could handle.”

Jin smiled but then his eyes closed and he fell back on to the bed. The woman smiled to herself before shutting the door and leaving Jin unaware of what had really happened.

“Jin!”

Jin startled awake. He looked at his alarm clock and his eyes dilated widely as he saw the time.

“OH CRAP! I’M GOING TO BE LATE FOR WORK!”

He jumped out of bed and ran out of his bedroom. He stopped when he nearly bumped into someone on the way over to the bathroom.

“Jin, you’re finally awake!”

“Ah, I’m sorry, Kame. I woke up late again. I need to get ready for work-”

Kame stopped Jin by kissing him sweetly. Jin’s tension seemed to melt away when he felt Kame’s lips on his. He embraced the other man and they stayed that way for a few minutes.

Kame opened his eyes and whispered, “Happy Anniversary, Jin.”

Jin’s eyes widened. He had forgotten about his own anniversary to his boyfriend of just about a year. He didn’t want Kame to know so he started laughing heartily and smiling nervously.

“Ah, yes. Happy Anniversary to you, too, Kame.”

“You forgot, didn’t you?” Kame pouted, seeing right through Jin’s unsubtle attempt at covering up his bad memory.

“No-no-no! Of course I didn’t! I’d never forget something so important! I’m just a little on edge because I’m late for work. Now if you excuse me-”

Jin started to run off but Kame stopped him.

“Jin, it’s Saturday.”

Jin’s shoulders went down and he exhaled deeply. This wasn’t the first time that he had gotten up early on a Saturday, thinking he had work. He turned around to look at Kame who was laughing at him, mockingly. Jin ran over and hugged him, causing Kame to laugh even harder.

“So what do you want to do today?” Kame asked while sipping his coffee.

Jin poked around at his breakfast and shrugged his shoulders.

“I don’t know. What do you want to do?” he responded, putting some egg in his mouth.

Kame pouted again, “Well, I thought you had something planned-but I guess not.”

Jin nearly spit out his food, but instead swallowed it quickly. He grabbed his orange juice and began drinking it furiously.

Kame smiled widely and squealed slightly, “I knew it! You do have something planned, don’t you? Aw but I guess I ruined the surprise, didn’t I?”

Jin’s eye twitched as he tried his best to smile.

“No, you-you didn’t ruin it. We can just go to the-the place where I wanted to give you your surprise! Ex-Excuse me one moment.”

Jin went running out of the room to his bedroom. He shuffled through his things on his nightstand to find his cell phone. When he found it, he grabbed it and started frantically dialing.

“Hello?”

“RYO! Oh thank gawd I need a favor! Is Yamapi there?”

“Hold on-YAMAPI! IT’S FOR YOU! IT’S JIN!”

“Thank you,” Jin whispered sheepishly.

Jin waited a few seconds before his best friend answered the phone.

“Hello?”

“PI! I NEED YOU TO DO ME A HUGE FAVOR! CAN YOU HAVE YOUR RESTAURANT DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR KAME AND ME?! IT’S OUR ANNIVERSARY!”

“Why are you yelling, you idiot? I can’t understand a word you’re saying.”

“Pi-please do this for me. I need you to get your restaurant to do something really nice for my and Kame’s anniversary. Something-ANYTHING-just please get it together in like two hours? That should be enough time. Will you do it?”

Yamapi chuckled, “Sure.”

“Oh thank-”

“Just pay up.”

“W-WHAT?!”

Yamapi continued laughing and Jin could hear Ryo laughing in the background.

“I’m just playing. Yeah, I’ll try and get it together. Just try and stall Kame for as long as you can-two hours will be no problem.”

“THANK YOU! I LOVE YOU!”

“Yeah, yeah, save it for Kame,” Yamapi replied sounding disgusted.

“Thank you!” Jin continued, “I’ll see you in a couple of hours. I owe you one, man.”

“No problem-see you.”

Jin hung up and practically skipped out of the bedroom, feeling relieved that he really did have something to surprise Kame with. Jin wasn’t sure, though, of what he would be getting himself into.

Two hours later, and after stalling Kame by wandering around aimlessly through a park, Jin brought his boyfriend to the restaurant where Yamapi worked. He had a plastered smile on his face as he looked around, curiously, hoping for some sign that everything was ready for them to be there.

Yamapi popped out of nowhere and started the unsuspecting couple.

“YA-YAMAPI!” Jin screamed in a slightly feminine voice.

“Yamapi? Do you work here?” Kame asked curiously, obviously not aware of the other man’s place of employment.

“Yeah, it’s only a few months since I started but I’m already regretting dropping out of medical school,” Yamapi sighed, not noticing the twitch in Jin’s eye.

“AHEM! Don’t you have to seat us-now-so we can eat lunch?” Jin growled.

“Hey, I’m not the hostess here-she’s right over there,” he pointed to a short, brunette who’s back was turned to the three of them, “Now if you excuse me, I have to go-well-I have to go do my job.”

He sighed once more before disappearing out of sight. Jin waited while the hostess grabbed a few menus and walked over to a table, gesturing for the pair to sit. She smiled at Jin who barely seemed to notice since his eyes were focused on Yamapi, hiding behind the front counter, talking to some of his coworkers.

“Would you like to start off with a couple of drinks?” the hostess asked.

Jin turned his head slightly and the hostess gasped.

“Akanishi-sama?”

Jin’s eyes widened and he looked back at the girl, who was wearing glasses and had her dark brown hair in a simple ponytail.

“Um-do I know you?” he asked in a way that came off sort of rude.

The hostess blushed and waved her hand, “I-I’m sorry, I must’ve mistaken you for someone else. I’ll be right back.”

Jin watched as she ran off, and was startled to see that Kame was glaring at him, accusingly.

“Do you know her, Jin?”

Jin made a sound that sort of sounded like a scoff but could have been mistaken for a squeak.

“What? Don’t be silly-I’ve never met her before in my life.”

“Then why did she call you ‘Akanishi-sama’?” Kame asked in a biting tone that gave Jin goosebumps.

His heartbeat started to quicken. He was unsure of how such a girl could have known his name.

“I have no idea-must have been a case of mistaken identity. Haha-anyways, let’s not dwell on that. I have something awful special planned for us, today,” he smiled, putting his hand on Kame’s and rubbing it endearingly.

Kame’s suspicions melted away just with Jin’s touch and he smiled right back.

After they ate a good meal that was served by a different waitress, Kame and Jin were about ready to find out what the big surprise was. Just then, Yamapi came out with a cake and the rest of his coworkers, who were all singing and clapping.

The group surrounded the table and Jin smiled endearingly at Kame, who looked both shocked and excited when he saw the cake. Jin looked at Yamapi and mouthed a thank you, to which Yamapi replied with a big smile.

Jin laughed and was extremely happy that everything went off without anything going wrong. That feeling lasted only until Jin caught a glimpse of the waitress who was supposed to have been serving him and Kame. One look into her eyes and it was like Jin’s past came back to haunt him.

“AI-CHAN!” he shouted.

“AI-CHAN?!” Kame and Yamapi both screamed in response.

Jin started to pant uncontrollably and watched as Ai ran off, having been found out. He then looked at Kame and Yamapi were staring at him oddly. The singing ceased and now everyone was looking at Jin.

“Jin-” Kame started, “Who is Ai-chan?”
