Chapter 4

“Akanishi-sensei--I’m sorry to say but I think we are going to have to let you go,” the principal said reluctantly.

“W-what?”

“We’ve received word of your inappropriate relationship with a student by the name of Kazuya Kamenashi and--since he was involved, he will be asked to leave as well--”

“W-what?! You can’t do that--fire me if you must but don’t give up on Kamenashi-kun--he’s a brilliant student and should be given a chance to prove himself, academically.”

“It seems he’s already proven himself in other ways--proven himself to be a complete slut!”

“Huh?!”

“And you, Akanishi-sensei, you’re the biggest pervert I’ve ever met!”

Jin’s eyes bugged out and he could feel his heart drop into his stomach. His forehead was wet with perspiration. His breathing became labored and he was about to pass out when he opened his eyes and realized that he was still in bed and that it had all been a horrible dream.

“Oh--oh it was just a dream. I--” he whispered to himself, turning to look at the clock only to see he had overslept and was now running late for work.

“Oh shit!” he exclaimed before jumping out of bed and heading into the bathroom to take a shower.

Feeling half-asleep, he stumbled into the teachers’ office and sat down. He looked around to see that everyone was staring at him in a manner that only worried Jin.

“G-good morning?”

“Akanishi-sensei!”

“YES!” Jin screamed.

“Can I see you for a moment?” the principal asked.

Jin felt the same way he had been feeling during his very-realistic dream. He gulped and nodded before following the principal into his office and shutting the door behind them.

“Have a seat,” the principal smiled endearingly.

Jin nodded and sat down, still unsure of what was about to take place.

“Akanishi-sensei--”

“YES!” Jin cried.

“Akanishi-sensei--it seems we’ve stumbled across something that may change your status as a teacher here.”

“H-huh?” Jin gasped.

“Yes--it seems, we’ve found out who has been starting these rumors and who vandalized your car.”

“Oh--oh! Oh--you have?” Jin asked, looking a bit shocked.

“Yes--we have word that it was a student by the name of Kazuya Kamenashi who spray painted the word on your car and he’s also the one who has been spreading the rumors about the two of you.”

“WHAT?!”

“Yes--a student who wished to remain anonymous claimed that he overheard Kamenashi-kun telling his friends these rumors and then the same student witnessed Kamenashi-kun spray the word on your car as well.”

“Kame?”

“Excuse me?”

“Oh n-nothing. I--I just can’t believe that it was Kamenashi-kun. He--he just seems like he isn’t the type to get into trouble--at least not that kind of trouble. I mean, vandalizing a teacher’s car--that just doesn’t sound like my Kame--my student Kamenashi-kun.”

“I know it’s hard to believe since he is one of your students but still, teenage boys are very unpredictable. One minute he may be very polite and courteous to your face and the next he’s telling everyone that the two of you are--involved.”

“I don’t believe it!”

“What?”

“I don’t believe that he would do such a thing. He-he gave me his word that it wasn’t him! I mean, I confronted him about these rumors and he-he told me that he wasn’t the one that started the rumor,” Jin firmly stated.

“Yes, I know--but you can’t always trust the word of a teenager especially a delinquent like Kamenashi-kun--”

“He’s not a delinquent!” Jin interjected.

The principal stared at Jin who immediately apologized, “I--I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to--I’m really sorry.”

The principal just looked concerned and said, “I appreciate your trust in the students but when they continuously get themselves into trouble and then lie about it, your trust in them is just a sign of naivety.”

Jin nodded his head, feeling he shouldn’t argue any more because he might reveal more than he intended to. He just apologized again to the principal before leaving to go attend to his class.

He was on his way when he saw a strange sight. Kame was standing with Koki, smiling and holding his hand. Kame looked at Jin, who smiled, and just kissed Koki very passionately on the mouth. Koki was a bit stunned but he seemed to enjoy it; Kame just looked at Jin before the two walked off, hand-in-hand.

Jin just shrugged his shoulders, feeling relatively unfazed at what Kame was doing. When he arrived in class, Kame was still not there. He sighed and began to call roll when someone shouted at the door.

“Kamenashi! EW! Take your PDA somewhere else!”

Kame just laughed before kissing Koki again as the two said their goodbyes. Kame walked in and glared at Jin while still retaining a vindictive smirk on his face. He sat in his seat and didn’t speak for the rest of homeroom. Jin felt a bit unnerved but he decided not to let it get to him.

That is until he was walking around at lunch and saw more so-called affection going on between Koki and Kame. He decided it was his role as a teacher to stop the PDA.

“Okay, you two, let’s cut that out. You’re on school property,” Jin said in the best authorative voice he could mimic.

Koki looked embarrassed but Kame just smirked and said, “Don’t tell me you’re jealous.”

“Both of you--stop what you’re doing before I give you detention,” Jin said before turning around and walking away.

Kame looked disappointed and annoyed but Koki was just embarrassed that he got caught making out by a teacher.

Jin didn’t think about Kame until the boy walked into class, 15 minutes late, out of what seemed to be spite for Jin. Jin remained unfazed and just told him to sit in his seat and take out his notes. Kame groaned, feeling annoyed that Jin wasn’t responding to his immature attitude.

Then Kame started acting up in class and Jin couldn’t take it anymore so he told the student to stay behind after class to have a word with him.

“What do you have to say for yourself?”

“I think the better question is why aren’t you reacting to what I’m doing?” Kame retorted.

Jin paused and looked at Kame. He then replied, “I see how it is. You’re just doing this to make me jealous or angry. I see--well, it’s not going to work so you better just stop doing it.”

“And if I don’t?” Kame smirked.

“If you don’t cut the crap, I will be forced to punish you to the full extent of my authority,” Jin smirked back, trying to remain as coy and as aggressive as Kame was being.

Unfortunately, Kame thought he was flirting and attempted to kiss Jin yet again. Jin dodged the kiss and almost fell onto the floor.

“Kamenashi-kun!”

“I--I--”

“You--I told you--it’s not going to work! Any of it--so stop trying to play games with me because it is not going to work!” Jin said, breathing hard and trying to maintain his balance.

“It’s not my fault you’re such a tease! You send me mixed signals! What am I supposed to do?!”

“How about you try growing up and acting like the adult you claim to be? You still act like a child--you’re immature and you’re spiteful. You think you could possibly love someone when you act so--so--childish!”

Kame looked furious at Jin’s words. This wasn’t just regular annoyance that he had been expressing all day; this was a white fury of rage that made him want to use violence to get his way. Luckily for Jin, Kame stuck with just words.

“So I’m immature?” Kame whispered in a dark tone of voice, “I’m childish? You don’t want me because you think I act like a kid? Well, I’ve got news for you. I’ve grown up more over the past year and a half than you could ever expect me to. I’ve done things and I’ve seen things that would make your hair curl and I’ve learned to deal with it--because I am a mature human being. I’m not spiteful--and I’m certainly not childish. You think you can just say this to me and think that I won’t react? Well I have news for you, Akanishi-sensei, you’re gonna wish you never said them and once more, you’re gonna wish that you never met me.”

Kame never once raised his voice during his impromptu speech for Jin but the way his eyes were glowing, Jin couldn’t help but feel frightened beyond belief. Still, since he was the adult, he decided to challenge the younger man with words of his own.

“Oh really? I’m gonna regret them? You think you’re so mature, Kamenashi-kun. Just because you have sex doesn’t mean that you could possibly understand things like love. Hell--most adults don’t even understand it--I don’t even understand it! But one thing I do understand, is love is unconditional and no matter how much a person hurts you--when you love that person, you take the pain and you never let go of those feelings. You hang onto them and use them as just the passion you need to fight for the one you love. You--you’re not fighting for me--you’re fighting with me! If you were as mature and as experienced as you say you were, then maybe I would believe you and maybe--just maybe--we could be together.”

Kame felt hurt but instead of crying, he just started yelling again.

“Mark my words, Akanishi-sensei! I won’t forget this and I sure as hell won’t give up without a fight!” He left the classroom in a haste to which Jin could only reply with a sigh of relief.

Clearly he was being naïve again, and he trusted that Kame wouldn’t do anything to rash; possibly more “face-time” with Koki while in his presence but that was Jin’s own naïve understanding of the situation.

Over the next few days, Jin was feeling happier and a lot less guilty about all he had said and done. He wasn’t thinking about Kame and only briefly would think about Yamapi, since he was only a couple days away from seeing his boyfriend again.

The day went without a single glitch and he could proudly walk down the hallways without fear of bumping into Kame and causing a bigger mess of things. Then the end of the day came and he made his way home.

Believing that he was going home to an empty apartment, Jin sighed a bit, sounding disappointed but no less content. However, when he opened the door, he noticed a bag on the floor and a pair of familiar shoes. He ran into the living room and sure enough, Yamapi had come home a couple days earlier than scheduled.

“Pi!” Jin shouted.

But his glee died when Yamapi turned around and had tears in his eyes and the phone in his hand.

“Huh? What’s wrong, Pi?” Jin said, trying to console the other man.

“Don’t touch me!”

“Huh? What’s going on? What’s the matter?” Jin said, once again trying to touch his boyfriend in order to comfort him.

“Guess who I just got off the phone with!” Yamapi said, holding the phone and waving it in Jin’s face.

“Umm--who?” Jin asked, curious.

“A boy--a boy named Kazuya Kamenashi and apparently he’s in your class.”

Jin’s heart sank and he stopped breathing for a second.

“Kamenashi?”

“Yes--and you know what he told me. He told me that the two of you--the two of you--gawd, I can’t even talk! I’m that disgusted!”

“Pi--”

“Don’t you dare try to defend yourself. I know what you did! I know you slept with him--your student--a teenager--in the bed that I share with you!” Pi said, turning away and clutching himself tightly.

Jin tried to speak but he couldn’t think of the right words.

“He’s lying.”

“Don’t give me that BS, Jin! I know you did it!”

“How can you be so sure?”

“He gave me details--about the apartment, about the bedroom--about--your body,” Pi said, wincing in disgust.

“W-what?”

“Yeah! He told me exactly where your birthmark is--and he was able to describe it perfectly too. I mean--I thought he was just making this up--like maybe he was just peeping on you or something but--he told me that he left his school jacket here and I looked and I found it,” Pi said, pointing to a chair by the kitchen.

Jin walked over and picked it up, staring shocked at the jacket. He couldn’t believe what had happened and how things went from being great to crashing before him.

“I want you out of here,” Pi said, barely speaking in a whisper.

Jin turned around suddenly, “HUH?!”

“I want you and your gawddamn shit out of my house! It’s bad enough that you cheated on me--but with a student--an underage one, I might add. You could go to jail for that, Jin! Do you even realize that?”

“I know! I know--I just--I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, it’s a little too late for that. You shouldn’t have done it in the first place. You--just get out. I don’t want to look at you right now. You can pack your stuff up this weekend but for now, just leave,” Pi pointed towards the door, not looking up once.

Jin started to cry and he, literally fell onto the floor and clung to Pi’s shins. Pi was crying too but he was trying to make Jin stand up.

“Come on, Jin. Don’t make this harder than it has to be,” he said, looking down at Jin and attempting to get the taller man to let go of him.

“NO! PI! I’M SORRY! I LOVE YOU! I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!” Jin cried, still clutching his lover’s legs and with his eyes closed shut.

Pi just whispered, “I know that you do. I know you’re sorry and I know you love me. I love you too, but I can’t possibly forgive what you did--at least not now. Jin--you and I are through,” Pi finally was set free when Jin let go of him, still sitting on the floor, crying.

Pi walked away and slammed the bedroom door behind him, while Jin continued to cry. He eventually got up and grabbed his jacket, leaving the apartment. He turned around and looked at the building and could feel himself tear up again. He walked away and looked for a place to stay.

The next morning, after spending a night in a nearby hotel, Jin made his way to school in the same clothes he had been wearing the previous day. He looked depressed and slowly made his way into the teachers’ office, never lifting his head up. Of course, he had to, when the principal called him into his office yet again.

He looked up and saw Yamapi standing next to the principal and Jin wanted to run the other way but he knew he couldn’t. He took a deep breath and walked into the office, the door shutting behind him.
