According to
Variety, Russell Crowe is in negotiations to take on the role of Jor-El in Snyder's Superman reboot. If he joins, the cast and crew would be able to boast not one, but two, Academy Award winners (Crowe and Kevin "Jonathan Kent" Costner), and seven Oscar nominees (Crowe, Costner, Amy "Lois Lane" Adams, Diane "Martha Kent" Lane, Michael

Okay, my Henry C biases aside, I'm trying not to get too excited about the movie, too. Especially since I saw Green Lantern this weekend and was very underwhelmed, even with the lovely Ryan Reynolds. Ah well.
But I totally agree that it's nice for the villain to *not* be Lex this time, since it's been done over and over. Plus, MR has sort of engraved himself on my brain as the best Lex evah (early seasons only, as you so rightly said!), so it would honestly be hard for me to picture someone else in the role.
But then again, they can do whatever they want in this movie. They have Henry Cavill. In tights. Need I say more? :-D
My guess is that the infant twins are for the part where Baby Kal-el is packed away in his kryptonian interstellar u-haul before the planet explodes. They always need twins when they cast little kids, especially babies, because of child labor laws wherein each kid can only be "on set" for a small amount of time per day. It is thanks to such rules that we were inflicted with the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. For that reason alone, I almost think the law should be repealed. ;-)
In other news, hope everything is going well with you! Miss you!!

As for the Supes movie, I'm trying my best to keep my expectations low, but with Henry C *and* that stellar supporting cast, it's tough not to get excited. ITA that any movie featuring HC in tights cannot lose. *Nods sagely* The Zod-centric storyline ought to be something different, at least. Plus, like I told Monica, the movie could hardly be any worse than SV--could it? *Nervous laugh*
I did hear that Green Lantern wasn't that great, which is a shame. I was really looking forward to seeing RR rocking emerald spandex. Lately, DC seems to be struggling to keep up with Marvel's superhero movies, without much luck. Look at Thor. He's a B-list hero just like Green Lantern, but somehow I totally enjoyed Thor (and I expect to enjoy Captain America when it comes out next month). OTOH, DC *did* have a winner with Batman last year, and the same producer (Nolan) is doing MoS, so there is some hope.
Thank you for clearing up the mystery of the infant twins! ("kryptonian interstellar u-haul"? HEE!) I should have remembered that was how dear Mary Kate and Ashley rose to fame. If you ever circulate a petition to repeal that law, I'll happily co-sign it. ;)
Please post when you get a chance! I'd love to hear how your summer's going. Hope that massage chair is getting a workout! *Smiggles you* :)
