Seems I've come back just in time for shit to go down. -_-
For those of you not familiar, the
Henneth-Annun Story Archive (HASA) is one of the older Tolkien fan fiction archives on the 'net, and a great repository of early stories that may not exist in other places and forms, sometimes by authors who have drifted away from fandom, or who have passed on.
Earlier this month,
HASA announced that at the end of the year, they will be closing down. There's an exceptionally high chance that when that happens, we'll lose many, many stories, and a significant portion of Tolkien fanfic fandom's history.
silwritersguild, along with two other archives, is launching a rescue project to identify and save "at risk" stories in an effort to preserve our shared history. Please,
check out their post on the topic, and if you're able, volunteer to help save these stories before they're gone forever.
