Smart Suits and Fashionable Fedoras--
Might I just share a little something that's been making me happy of late? ...Really? Cool. It's really nice of you to stop by and listen. ^_~
...I just want to say that the recent upswing in Rat Pack-inspired men's fashion is such a pleasure to see. Sleek suits and ties, folded pocket handkerchiefs, shiny tie clips and polished shoes, fedoras and waistcoats and vests and trenchcoats and long coats, oh my! *swoons* *fans self*
I think it deserves a small picspam.

Of course, it would be remiss not to include the actual Rat Pack. (L to R: Ol' Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra; Sammy Davis Jr.; and Dean Martin.) Oh, and... a disproportionate amount of the photos I've picked have fedoras in them, but come on, is there anything more iconically Rat Pack/1940s? (Plus, I have a strong affection for that particular hat style. *G*) Love the bowler Sammy is wearing, too, and Dean's waistcoat and cuffs and what looks like a tie pin? *happysigh*

Oh, oh Marton. You are so fantastically hot when you're not blond. I saw this photo of Marton Csokas over at hot_daily a little while ago, and knew I needed to icon it. *G*
Ok, honestly, this isn't so much Rat Pack as it is just... Marton, but hell, I liked the photo and wanted to include it. This man never ceases to smoulder.
Hugh Jackman's pretty most of the time already, but I had no idea he could pull off this look. If this photo was in black and white, I'd actually almost expect Frank himself to wander into frame.
...And after this shoot, he'll join up with the rest of 'em and they'll close out Las Vegas itself. ^_~
Do I need to say this is Robert Downey Jr.? *G* Honestly, even moreso than the hat and handkerchief, I think the gloves make the outfit.

And then... there's White Collar, which I have only started watching of late (and have only seen up to "Free Fall," so no spoilers, please!). I haven't yet gotten over the fact that Tiffani Thiessen was on one of the worst teen shows of all time, Saved By the Bell, but frankly, the whole damn show could be Matt Bomer dressed to the nines and reading the phone book, and I'd still watch. It's those suits. *bites lip*
If I didn't know this was a promo shot, I'd believe it was straight out of a menswear catalogue. (Also, can I just say, "Yay, handkerchief!"? ^_~)
Oooh, moody and atmospheric and all black...
And what better way to close it all out than with a midlength coat, a snazzy ensemble, and a tie clip? ^_^ ♥
I'm just as shocked as anyone that there's no Viggo and/or Sean in this. *sigh* Sadly, Viggo's a little too bohemian and Sean's been skewing far too far down the "scruffy" scale of late for either of them to be sporting this particular style. Awww. *sniff* (I bet they'd look fantastic, though. So... who's going to write me a 1940's/Rat Pack LotRPS AU? *puppyeyes*)
