Baaaaaa!

Jul 22, 2009 22:11

I will get around to the "Words!" meme later. Sadly, my answers are getting a wee bit long for that one. However. I was tagged by splix this evening...

Firstly: If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question.

Secondly: Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
Okey dokey. I tag Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy and anyone on my Flist who wants to play.

Lots of pillows or just one?
Lots. Lots and lots and lots. Depending on where I'm sleeping, anywhere from two to four under my head. In terms of decor? My bed ends up covered in frilly, girly pillows and stuffed animals. ...Does that undercut my tough exterior? ^_~

What kind of books do you read?
Mostly genre fiction. Fantasy of all stripes, supernatural stories, mystery, action, etc. Weird shit, creatively-formatted things, artistic works, the surreal, graphic novels, manga, etc. I read my share of sci-fi, but I prefer the "softer" stuff. Not so big on the hard sci-fi. Just like I'm not big into epic quest fantasy that comes with Vallejo-esque covers/art. I used to read more horror, but I find I've become more sensitive to it rather than less over the years, and seriously, House of Leaves freaked me right the fuck out, so I tend to not read as much horror anymore. When I'm in a more academic framework, tons of literary fiction with a bent towards the tragic or surreal, primarily 19th C. and earlier. (Love me some Pre-Raphs and depressing 19th C. writers.) I don't read much non-fiction, and I tend to read theory when I need it, not just for the fun of it.

What are your most awesome skills?
I have Google-fu like none other. (Caught a plagiarizer in 6 seconds once. Have a tendency to pull up and offer links with answers to questions before friends have finished asking.) Um, I can hang a spoon off the end of my nose, and I can pontificate endlessly on pretty much any topic out there. (Which is probably not something people appreciate all that much. *G*)

What's your occupation?
Gah. Professional procrastinator. Perpetually in-between. I'm currently employed as an English instructor with an international tutoring company. By the end of the summer, I hope to finally be well on my way to being something else.

What's really creepy?
House of Leaves. Stories in which the supernatural force is intangible. The fact that brodeurbunny30 seems to be tracking my biorhythms better than I am.

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
Always and forever, VigBean and Aragorn/Boromir. I was dedicated to the cult of The Lord of the Rings at age 11, and I am stalwart and loyal in my affections. My fandom shall never sail into the West it'll just get pervier. ...Of course, that dear angel fellow over in Supernatural seems rather nice. The one that hangs out with that loveable scamp Dean? What was his name? Cas... Cast... Castiel, I believe? (Also Sharpe and Eastern Promises. I tend to be loyal across actor properties too. ^_~)

What food could you eat every day for weeks and not get sick of?
Ice cream. Oh my god, ice cream. I do not care what time of year it is. Ice cream is good even in the middle of winter. Chocolate is another. God, chocolate. Mmmmm. Fresh pineapple, too, or the slow roasted, brown-sugar marinated kind you can get from Bolero Fire Grill. I don't know what they do to it, but holy fuck, is it ever good.

What websites do you always visit when you go online?
LJ, baby. Always LJ. Then Journalfen, LibraryThing, The Daily Puppy and a more recent addition, The Astronomy Picture of the Day.

What was the last thing you bought?
At the very end of an errand-run, two bags of popcorn, one "Jalapeno Jack," and one "Creamy Caramel," because Dad gave me a coupon (buy 1, get 1 free). I have opened neither.

What was the cutest thing you've seen today?
Henry the Retriever and Boots the Mixed Breed (especially Boots with the giant stick). What can I say? I stayed in today.

Do you get cravings? If so, what do you crave?
Good Christ, yes. Usually sweet things, like chocolate, candy and ice cream. A little less of the time, salty things, like popcorn, chips and pickles.

What do you do to change your mood?
Talk to friends. Vent. Burn off excess energy by finding something else to do. Listen to loud alternative/hard rock. (Very cathartic.) Write with savageseraph. (Unless we're deep in the angst, it's relaxing and soothing.) Or, if I'm really feeling low, curl up and watch favourite adult-oriented cartoons, like The Simpsons, Home Movies, Futurama, and The Venture Bros.

What is your zodiac sign?
Sagittarius, the Archer. I'm not into many sports or the outdoors (like nature, don't like hiking/camping/roughing it), and I'm not good with spontaneity, but I like to think I fit well enough with the rest of the general profile.

Do you want to learn another language?
I'd love to, but I'm not terribly good at picking up languages, partially because I become painfully shy in language classes; I'm afraid of being the only person who doesn't understand anything. I'm better when it's text-only, but even so... Yeah. Not so great.

Five things you can't live without.
Love. Hope (although I fear it wavers far too often). Knowledge. The Past. The Future. ...Or, failing that, my family, my friends, my books, the internet, and my writing.

What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
You can do this. I know you can. I have faith in you. ♥ | ETA for someone else: I love you. I miss you. I desperately hope you're still in the universe somewhere.

What are you looking forward to?
Being done with work tomorrow afternoon.

Say something to the person who tagged you:
I think you're great, and that makes me nervous that I'll say or do something that'll make me look bad/like an idiot. In fact, I worry I've already done that. Ergh.*

*Honestly, I'm reasonably certain that I could probably say this to most of my Flist.
