Laid out a bodice pattern for the new kirtle over the weekend but got delayed in cutting it out due to weekend company and a complete living room overhaul.

I used the basic outline of the bodice pattern I used for the red dress but used the back strap placement from the blue dress as a placement guideline and narrowed the CF gap considerably. I raised the CB almost all the way to the base of the neck and added built in straps. I also changed the line of the side back seam to create a really nice Y shaped piece in the back with curved seams which seemed to match the lines I was seeing on the extent pieces a lot better (think Eleanora of Toledo's burial dress). Finally I deepened the point in the back of the dress as I found the point on the red dress tended to get lost.

I finally cut it out as a toile and pinned it together just a little while ago and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect trial run. I might raise the back just a smidge but that's pretty much all I could see myself doing to alter it. I really don't have to though so I might just leave well enough alone.

I am strongly considering doing at least two iterations of this dress (likely more), I definitely want one with CF lacing and one with the curved over the kidney lacing, the first two at least will likely be out of non-ostentatious fabrics and will be boned "petticoat bodies" as opposed to being built to go over a corset.

I think I may just be done with corsets truth be told, at least for the Venetian stuff.
