To "simplify" their bank charges, the Hafilax have written to me to tell me that authorized overdrafts up to two and a half grand (more than my overdraft limit) will no longer be charged interest but will, instead, have a daily charge applied to them of a quid.
I fairly infrequently hit my overdraft, and when I do it's normally not for very long until I move some money around. (Better paying off interest at X%, rather than earning bugger all interest in a cash savings account somewhere.) So normally my interest charges are of the order of pennies per month if present.
Damn.
I'd been considering my options for moving current account, possibly as part of moving my mortgage (or not). I may well look a bit harder.
