things going on at youngbloke's school, including the names of school houses.
They're a funny thing. My secondary school was exceptionally dull, and went for White, Red, Gold and Blue. Other people I know have ended up at schools with house names like Wolsey, Moore and other interesting people from history. So far, so dull.
oldbloke's post mentions Inchfield and Hollins, which sound much more interesting than Blue and White to me. My primary school had four houses, with an associated colour.
- Blackroot was red, I think
- Bracebridge was green
- Longmoor was yellow, I think
- Wyndley was blue
Anyone who can guess what those four names refer to without Googling is, I fear, slightly deranged.
It seems odd that a school that, while I was there, celebrated its 21st birthday had much more colour and thought in such names than a school that had just celebrated its 450th birthday.
