Hey I'm back from London. Trip was awesome.
It's truly a global center, with significant populations of people from all over the world (to celebrate this, I did a tour of restaraunts from around the world: Indian, British, Italian, Pakistani, Vietnamese, French and Japanese). I think what surprised me the most was how well a society gets along with so many cultures from all over the world packed into a tiny space. I felt no racial tension while I was there, even though I was staying with a friend in a predominantly Indian/Middle Eastern neighborhood. Everyone was so much more polite there than virtually anywhere I had been, and I generally felt safer there than my own country. I'm not saying it's perfect, but London was a truly amazing experience for me, and I would encourage anyone who has never been there to go.
I think this was a good start to a new chapter of visiting other cultures and places. Damn I should get a job with National Geographic so I can travel all over the world!
