A card my grandfather sent my grandmother. There's no date on it, but it looks pretty old. Bunnies!
Inside of the popup card.
A clipping from Chevron, a newspaper published by the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. The newspaper is from 1965. He won second place in the 13th Annual Marine Corps Rifle Marksmanship competition with a score of 239. He tied another Staff Sergeant, but he has a better 500-yard score, which was the tie-breaker. This was my grandfather's first Leatherneck award, though he'd scored expert for 14 consecutive years as of 1965. He also routinely shot expert with pistols as well.
My grandfather had saved the December 1961 issue of Leatherneck magazine, though I'm not sure why. But it did have this amusing little cartoon which I think a few people will appreciate.
