Keahi Kahale is a sensitive li'l baby who doesn't like to see friends teasingly insulting each other pass it on
Actually I think it's just cause a lot of the things they're saying about Stasney are things they also said about Keahi, just replace aliens with fish. So even though he can kinda tell they're teasing, he hears "Don't hang out with Stasney, he's a loser obsessed with aliens!" and remembers all the times people who genuinely admitted it said "Don't hang out with Keahi, he's a loser obsessed with fish!"
Poor Keahi. :( At least he's now in a place where his love of marine biology will be encouraged and treated as a valid and good part of who he is.
