Back from round trip to Scotland. Alas did not have time to stop over with friend in Leeds on the return journey despite dropping daughter off in the vicinity. Can always tell when a visit to that friend is overdue because I start to find pictures like these alluring...

I agree with your hubby. Smoking kills. It is a costly and stupid habit that ruins lives. Benedict should be setting a better example to his younger fans. He needs to give it up NOW!

Our NHS is strapped for resources. We need to save money. Having to treat and care for those with smoking-related illnesses does not help our NHS one iota.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but smoking really annoys the hell out of me, and people like Benedict should know better; he is better than that!

You are quite right of course. There really should be no argument about it. I agree absolutely that for the sake of his fans Benedict shouldn't allow himself to be photographed with cigarette in hand. However when I was growing up everybody smoked freely everywhere, thus somehow it still holds a certain perverse attraction. I'm sure that like myself, Benedict will give up easily when he has his much longed for family. Sometimes it's hard to do the right thing just for one's self. :-/

Sorry. You know me. I went off on one!

Luckily for me, nowadways, smoking is not permitted freely everywhere. In fact, it is not permitted anywhere at all. That really helps me out.

When you were allowed to smoke in pubs, I never set foot inside a pub!

You are right to slam the whole smoking thing. Alas for me and many others who grew up in an era when social smoking was the norm and were surrounded by chain-smokers in the workplace, the damage has long since been done by passive inhalation of about forty a day whether we actually lit up ourselves or not! Things have definitely changed for the better. And I'm pleased to say that my children have never been tempted to take it up. :-)

Smoking in the workplace. OMG!

Thank God I have never had to put up with that. Only smoking in restaurants and pubs and clubs. I never went to pubs or clubs so that wasn't an issue for me! Although now that there is no smoking in pubs I often go to them and feel very comfortable there.

If smoking had been permitted in the workplace when I was working there would definitely have been murder committed!
