Books, books and more books...

Yesterday finished reading the film tie-in edition of My Week With Marilyn - being an amalgamation of the original 1995 publication The Prince, the Showgirl and Me plus the ‘missing week’ published separately in 2000 as My Week With Marilyn. I must say that the film did an excellent job with the material, with superb spot-on casting of the original ( Read more... )

You really put me to shame with your reading!

As you know, I have had "The Last Pagan" by Adrian Murdoch longer than you and I still have not got onto it, despite it being a priority. I also want to read "Julian" by Gore Vidal. I have the most beautiful first edition of the book. I really just need to bite the bullet and start, because I know once I have started I won't be able to stop.

Unfortunately, I can't start any of my priority reading books until I have proof-read someone else's new book, which I have committed to doing. It is a long story - don't ask!

Anyway, you carry on reading The Last Pagan, tell me all about it, and then I will just have to get onto it too!

And no, before you ask, I have not started The Seven Per Cent Solution yet either!

Oooh! Gore Vidal wrote about Julian? I can see another Amazon marketplace purchase of a second-hand book happening very soon... :-))

Yes, he did! And you can get it very cheaply - hardback and paperback through Amazon or the site I use, Abebooks:
http://www.abebooks.co.uk/

They are WAY better on price and condition for second hand, rare and out of print books. Happy shopping!

Have ordered myself a £0.01 plus p&p copy. I adore Amazon marketplace. Without them I could not survive in this wilderness... :-)

Also, you always take great care to illustrate your posts with the correct avatar - I just use my default - a photo of me!

What, may I ask, does this post have to do with Benedict Cumberbatch?!!! I know he is holding a book - but I know you can do better than that!

This should have an Emperor and Galilean avatar - I want an E&G avatar illustrating this post - Please!

Nothing to do with BC. Unfortunately I don't have enough icon allowance even with my plus account and an additional LJ icon add-on package to really use the right image for every post. This is simply my current generic 'reading' icon, taken from Van Gogh: Painted With Words. I change all my icons from time to time. Don't have any Andrew Scott icons on the go right now I'm sorry to report!
