The cast list for this film is simply fabulous...
I hope that the plot is easier to understand than the BBC series starring Alec Guinness. There were so many layers of complex counter-espionage going on, I never understood it completely. Mind you, I only dipped in and out of watching it. My parents were the committed viewers. In 1979 I had college finals and a career to start. In any case spy stories are not my usual genre of choice, so whilst I will certainly see this new film, I won't be reading the original John le Carré novel(s), revisiting the television series on DVD, or listening to either of the, doubtless superb, radio adaptations on audiobook. Thus this film had better make sense in its own right! :-))
