Ok, here's a hypothetical situation. (I don't know many sports teams, so bear with me)
You are sitting at home one day having cybersex or something when all of a sudden there is a tap on your door's knob. You put your underwear back on and go outside and see that there is a piece of spam mail on the ground, and it says to you
"HELLO THERE. THIS IS NICK THE GREAT. I AM A PSYCHICK. I CAN PREDICT MANY WONDEROUS THINGS FOR YOU AT A PRICE. BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT I WILL PROVE MYSELF FIRST.
THE NEXT FOOTBALL GAME THAT THERE IS WHICH IS THE PARAMATTA EELS AGAINST THE CANTERBURY LIONS THE WINNERS WILL BE PARRAMTTA.
YOU WILL HERE FROM ME AGAIN PIECE BE WITH YOU

and you think "OMG what a looser LOL :rolleyes:" and chuck his letter in the bin.
But then when the football game is on Parramatta wins.
A few days later, you are busy having cyber with your new e-girlfriend (or e-boyfriend if that's your thing) and there is another tap on your knob. After coming out of the table where you were hiding because you thought it was your paremts or maybe your brothers parents and have your pants on you go to the door and see another letter
"HELLO THIS IS NICK THE GREAT AGAIN. WELL YOU SEE I TOLD YOU I WAS A PSYCHICK. BUT I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING "HEY DUMMY ANYONE CAN DO THAT RIGHT?" I AGREE AND SO I WILL PROVE MYSELF AGAIN.
THE NEXT SWIMMING RACE THAT IS ON WILL BE WONNED BY MR. E. SWIMMER (coz I don't know of any)

you ignore it again, and it turns out to be right again.
This pattern continues for a while. Every letter this NICK THE GREAT sends you is always 100% accurate. Football, baseball, basketball, horse races, even elections he predicts with 100% accurately.
Finally after 15 correct predictions (and 22 e-girlfriends) he comes back with this message
"HELLO THIS IS NICK THE GREAT AGAIN. WELL AS YOU CAN SEE I AM A GENIUNE PSYCHICK. SO NOW I WILL MAKE THIS DEAL FOR YOU. I WILL PREDICT THE WINNER OF THE MELBOURNE CUP (it's a horse race) FOR YOU FOR THE PRINCLY SUM OF $10,000. SEND ME THE CHEQUE BEFORE [insert date here] AT THIS ADDRESS: [insert address here] AND I WILL SEND YOU THE WINNER OF THE RACE.
