I just sat for the last 2 1/2 hours or so with a bunch of South Americans having conversations inbetween Spanish and English. I also had a few beers with them-- Reudnitzers (1.5 liters total.. I think like 4.5 beers worth)-- and they just left for a Salsa club. It's interesting to talk to people who come from South America and only visit the U.S.A. on vacations. They've all been to the main cities-- NY, Boston, Orlando, Miami, and, apparently, Las Vegas. I think one of the group, Fabian, was trying to convince me that two Colombians that always come to Miami on "business" were drug dealers. It was funny to them, I think. The one girl just kept telling me, "He's just kidding." Like I said, they all just left for a salsa club. Apparently, there are two salsa clubs in Leipzig, and they compete with each other for the Latino crowd (but Germans go there too). I would have gone with them, but 1) I am waking up early in the morning to go to Dresden (you know, the place our grandparents fire-bombed the hell out of), and 2) I am uncomfortable in dance clubs and I don't know how to salsa with pretty Peruvians and Colombian girls.
Today I stayed home for most of the day and only went to the grocery store to get some beer for tonight and some other things like Coke and potato chips-- the standard American fare. Other than that, I sat at home all day and read my book, which I will probably finish tonight before I go to sleep. I am waking up at 7 tomorrow to go to Dresden, the home of fine china and destruction by the Allies. Ah, America, the only people who can effectively bomb cities...
