Not a real busy week
I did manage to get out and have some fun this week.
First, on Monday I had an opportunity to meet robinsonsorange for the first time as well as to visit TheLeafman. It was a pleasant visit. They got into town at like 2am, and we met at 9am so that I could give them a tour of part of the state. I drove them up to Painted Desert/ Petrified Forest National Monument when I found out that Leafman had never been there before.
If I had rememberred how long a drive it was, I would have taken them to Casa Grande and to Montezuma's Castle instead. I wound up driving almost 12 hours with maybe a handful of stops (and them bitching about me driving to slow almost the whole way even though we were over the speed limit all of the way up and a good part of it back) and it really made me laugh when they complained about how slow I was driving when we were doing 90 on I-40.
Robinsonsorange has a rather unique sense of humor, but then I should have expected that from knowing Leafman so well before. It was kind of interesting to hear an outsider's view of our countryside and to hear his description of some of the Tbbser's that he had met over the weekend. Really made me laugh when he commented about how big our autos were and I found myself looking for an LTD to show him how much smaller most cars had gotten now.
Also had a brush with stardom this week. Friday night, two friends and I decided to go out for dinner and a movie. Went to the Silver Dragon on 19th and I learned how good Chinese food in this city could really be. Then went out to Paradise Valley mall to catch a showing of Hellboy as it is not showing in many places here. It was kind of funny to see someone using a belt sander to groom himself.
When we got into the theater, the guy at the concession stand told us that Alice Cooper was in our theatre. Went in, sat through the movie and enjoyed it. Got up afterward and realized that Mr. Cooper had been almost right behind us. Said hello. He is a very nice man.
