why is it suddenly ok, or in some cases, incouraged, to be nerdy. i remember when i was in public school, especially the middle section (6-10th grades), there was nothing worse than being uncool. you didnt want to copy everyone else but you didnt want to be too odd either.
the other day one of the employees was saying they knew nothing about me. i replied with "well, im just a big dork." after that she said "thats cool, i am too". now, while once in the conversation she did use the word "neat", she is far from a dork. i AM one though. i DO watch x-files in my free time, and HAVE tickets to the first showing of episode 3 in tucson. multiple times ive HAD people say the following to me: "you're such a dork.".
i
have a comic book collection...
i dont know her that well but im sure she rarely finds herself bored on the weekend, and at an ihop because there is nothing else for her to do.
maybe its just a part of growing up, and no longer feeling the urge to "try" to be something other than yourself. so we waste no more time denying ourselves to others. or, maybe that tool carson daily pummeled it into our brains that uncool is the new cool.
i wonder if there is a new strong bad email!
