On a brief trip downstairs on Christmas day Rimmer was presented with Lister's present to him. Upon returning to his room and opening the gift he found it was some of the Armie du Noir, some of the very same carved wooden figures he'd let Lister (in what he sometimes though of as a mad fit) burn while he was awaiting rescue on the ice planet. Arnold was now arranging them in some order on a shelf, he then rearranged them. He picked one of them up and stared at it closely. Remembering not only the sight of them burning but that of when he'd first been given them. He put the soldier back with the others, then decided to rearrange them yet again. He'd say thanks next time he ran into Lister.
