Chapter 6

Alex smiles against him, he reaches for his hand again and starts to play with his fingers. His thumb running over Michael's digits slowly. He looks down as he starts to talk, his tired state letting words slip from his lips with no control. “Sometimes I wish we wasn't in the band. Sometimes, i think of how it would have been if we had met in a café or something. I think about it a lot. I imagine that I'd see you reading in the corner of a café, and you'd look really cute and I'd go up and talk to you, i buy you a latte, and then we talk... we fall in love and we live by the lake...” Alex chuckles at his silliness.

Michael looks down at him and stares at him like he's the most beautiful person in the world, his eyes full of love and hope. “You'd be in a chequered shirt and bow-tie...We'd end up rambling about the latte and then I'd buy you lunch.. We'd be there till it got dark... I'd walk you home.”

Alex smiles up at him cutely. “I'd take your hand because walking in the dark scares me. I'd blush and thank the dark that you couldn't see... We'd stand outside my house all awkward before I kissed your cheek, thank you for an amazing day and slip my number in your back pocket. I'd go inside wishing that I had asked you to stay for coffee.”

Michael grins, “I'd link our fingers and keep you close to me just in case the dark got too dark, I'd smile and thank you instead of you thanking me and try to turn my head so you got the corner of my lips cause I would have been staring at them for ages...Thinking of how soft they were... I'd say I hope to you see again, and watch you walk into your place. I'd touch the corner of my lips and smile as I walk home - the opposite way I might add,” Michael giggles. “When I'd get in I'd empty my pockets and find your number, I'd text you just before I went to bed, and hoped you'd text back in the morning.” Michael blushes and looks down at Alex who is grinning against his chest.

Alex smiles and leans up and pecks the corner of Michael's lips. “I'd have had major butterflies all day, and would have grinned from ear to ear when I saw your text. I wouldn't have waited till the morning I'd have sent a text back straight away. Telling you that I had a great day and that I couldn't wait to see you again. I'd also tell you that you were gorgeous and ask you out on a date on Friday.” Alex leans against him and starts to idly play with his fingers.

Michael touches his lips and smiles, “I'd pick it up straight away and be buzzing. Would reply with a yes, you're the gorgeous one and I had such a lovely day and ask you about Italian on Friday. I'd send it ten minutes later though because I wouldn't want to seem too desperate.” Michael chuckles. “Then I'd go and plan my outfit for Friday.”

Alex giggles. “I'd be waiting eagerly, getting ready for bed wondering what you were doing. I'd grab my phone the second it vibrates, and read it over and over smiling and dancing when I see a yes. I'd blush and giggle like a school girl and start to reply. I'd say that I know the perfect Italian, right on the beach. I'd tell you that I'd be able to see the stars in your eyes and they'd be even more beautiful. I'd be blushing but it wouldn't matter. The butterflies would be a hundred times worse and I'd be grinning when I press send.” Alex looks up at him and giggles cutely.

Michael leans down and presses a kiss against his cheek. “I'd jump and look at the text like is this real? And giggle and blush some more, I'd tell you that it sounds perfect and that I don't need stars to see your eyes shine. I'd roll my eyes at how corny it is and press send. I'd wait for you to reply and think of how beautiful you are.” Michael smiles softly, tangling his fingers in Alex's hair.

Alex smiles, a beautiful blush on his cheeks, his fingers drawing love hearts along Michael's arms giving the older man goosebumps. “I'd blush so much at the text and sit on my bed all giddy and excited. I'd think of something to say but wouldn't be able to think of anything, so I'd tell you that you were making me blush and tell you that you were beautiful and that I can't wait to see you again. I'd press send and try and distract myself by reading your texts over again.”

Michael watches him; smiling, “I'd tell you that you were making me blush so much too and that you really should look in the mirror. I'd bounce on my bed and not want to do anything except smile.”

Alex smiles softly, “I'd look up in the mirror and grin at my blushing cheeks, I'd tell you that I was looking in the mirror and couldn't see beauty, I'd close my eyes and see you and see all the beauty in the world. I'd press send and hold my pillow, remembering how good it felt holding you.”

Michael pulls him up and kisses him softly, wrapping his arms around him. “I'd blush so much it's not possible, I'd touch my lips again and then send you back a cheesy poem about your eyes.”

Alex kisses him slowly, sucking on his bottom lip. “I'd text you back telling you that you were the cutest person in the whole world, and then I'd memorize the poem.”

Michael grins and kisses him again. “I'd blush and not know what to say, I'd smile and think up another cheesy line. I'd tell you that I have never met anyone like you and that you were my definition of perfection.”

Alex looks up at him, smiling a small shy smile. “I'd tell you that you were sweet and tell you that it was the best day of my life. Then I'd be cheeky and ask if you had plans for tomorrow.”

Michael leans in close and brushes his nose slowly against Alex's. He talks against Alex's lips, “I'd say no, I'm free. Maybe want to go for a walk? I know this great little place where we could go. It's quiet. Take you to the beach. If it's windy I'd give you my coat and suffer, wrap my arms around you and hold you close.”

Alex smiles, tangling their legs together. “I'd say that a walk sounds perfect and if it's windy I'd just snuggle against you, wrapping the coat around the both of us so we're nice and cosy.”

Michael runs his hands up and down his back, “I'd make sure I looked cold so I could hold you. I'd get close like I am now and run my lips along yours before pulling away, scared that I was being too forward.”

Alex shivers and leans against him more. “I'd keep you close even if it was boiling and then I'd move closer as you run your lips along mine and when you pull away I'd pout and lean forward and kiss you.” Alex leans forward and presses his lips against Michael's softly. Michael whimpers, running his hands through his hair and kissing him back gently. Alex smiles and kisses him back with as much love as he can. Michael kisses him back with just as much passion, wrapping his arms around him tight.

Alex pulls away panting, he smiles and pecks the corner of his mouth. “I'd tell you that you were an amazing kisser.”

Michael catches his breath, smiling. “Tell you that you took my breath away. Best kiss I'd ever had. Then I'd hold you close and...” Michael holds him tight and kisses him more gently, stroking his face softly. Alex whimpers into the kiss, his face resting against his hands, and his hands drawing patterns against his lower back. Michael kisses him tenderly before pulling away, pecking his lips softly twice, and his nose once. “Alex... I... You're beautiful and I... I love you.” he whispers. He shuts his eyes and rests his head against Alex's forehead.

Alex blushes and kisses his cheek softly, “I've always loved you.”

Michael smiles and opens his eyes, “I told my parents it was you. That I... from the moment we first kissed: I knew. I knew it was you.” Michael blushes deeply. Alex smiles and snuggles against him. “Lets go to the lake.” Michael says, playing with his hair.

“When?” Alex asks looking up at him.

“Now.”

“Now?” Alex asks, excitement rising in his voice.

“Yes. Now. Pack a bag, we can stay there for a few days.” Michael says kissing his cheek softly. Alex grins and jumps up off the bag. Michael chuckles, loving seeing Alex so excited.

Within ten minutes they're in the car, Alex leaning against Michael's shoulder as the older man drove them there. Michael is smiling, he's happy. Despite everything that happened tonight he was smiling. When they arrived at the lake he got out of the car and picked the younger boy up and carried him to the cabin. When he opened the door, his smile slipped from his lips and his body started to shake as he stared into the cabin.
